We’ve shown you our fave dresses and how our blogger babes get dressed up, now it’s time to talk about prom shoe styles! We’ve rounded up our top five favorite trends to try out for prom 2017. Which one will you wear?

Luxe Lucite

prom shoe styles - lucite

Arguably one of the trendiest shoe looks out there, Lucite is definitely having its moment in the fashion world! It’s clear to see why street style stars and celebs have fallen in love with this look, as it helps shape legs while appearing to defy gravity. This shoe trend is perfect for fashionistas who are all about making a statement on prom night.

Solid Gold

prom shoe styles - metallic

What prom look is complete without a little bit of metallic glam? Gold shoes are a fun way to add glamour to your prom style, while still matching with almost every color under the rainbow. Worried about mixing metals? Don’t be! Pairing your gold kicks with a different metal-toned dress or accessories is a surefire way to show your fashion cred by playing up the unexpected!

Low Block Loves

prom shoe styles - low block heel

Walking in heels can be daunting, especially if the first time you are trying it out is prom night. That’s where the of-the-moment low block heel comes to the rescue! Just because they aren’t 4 inches high doesn’t mean these heels are low in style. Beyond being completely on-trend, a lower heel means you can dance all night without discomfort. Try them out with metallic accents, overall glitter or even a bold floral print to complete your glam prom look.

Blush Crush

There is no denying that blush has been having an extended stay at the top of our list of favorite color trends. Neutral enough not to clash with most dresses, yet special enough to pull some attention to your pretty pedicure, blush shoes add a femininity to your prom look all the way down to your toes. We’re especially loving the velvet shoe for even more style points!

Simple Elegance

When your dress is insanely fabulous, these subtly chic shoes will be the perfect complement but won’t steal the spotlight. Black and nude sandals are a classic for a reason, but special touches like lace-up details and ankle ties keep them from being boring. Plus, shoes like these will be in style for a long time, so you’ll get plenty of wear out of them after prom.

Fashion2017 Prom Trends

With prom only a few weeks away, we’ve pulled together a collection of prom trends that are totally #promgoals! Scroll through to see the dresses we love and how we’d style each of them for the big night!

Cold Shoulder

2017 Prom Trends - Cold Shoulder

There’s no escaping the cold shoulder trend, but when it’s this fab, why would you want to? We’re totally loving an all white moment, but it’s the details in this dress that have us head over heels. Delicate pleating on the waist and bust is super flattering and the draped cold shoulder style is sweetly chic. Add that to a sweeping skirt and this is the dress fairy tale prom nights are made of!

Sleek Chic

2017 Prom Trends - Sleek Chic

If there is one night you can go head-to-toe fabulous, it’s prom! Sequins are always a great choice for making a statement, and the sleek silhouette of this dress keeps it from being OTT (not that being over the top is ever a bad thing when it comes to your wardrobe). A deep neutral metallic such as this one looks amazing with cool-toned smoky eye makeup, sparkly silver jewelry and swept back hair.

Relaxed Glamour

2017 Prom Trends - Relaxed Glamour

Prom is meant for dancing and enjoying the night with your besties, so a relaxed dress in a lighter-than-air fabric is the perfect choice for wherever the night leads! This dress looks super glam because of the luxe gold fabric, but the comfortable silhouette will keep you ready to party all night. Pile on the accessories for picture taking, as seen here, but a dress like this stands out all on its own.

Lace and Legs

2017 Prom Trends - Lace and Legs

Who says you have to go full-length to be formal? Sheer lace detailing and a sophisticated plunge neckline keep this dress from being too casual for the most dressed up dance of the year. Higher hemlines mean you get to play more with your footwear and show off a little leg. Plus, they have the added bonus of being totally rewearable more often than full-length formal wear – for those of you graduating, a dress like this would be awesome for college formals and mixers.

Technicolor Dream

2017 Prom Trends - Technicolor Dream

Chacha all night in this swingy stunner, perfect for kicking up your heels (maybe in a contrasting color or fun metallic?) and twirling across the dance floor! Dresses in bold hues are a surefire way to stand out on prom night. Black, neutrals and metallics are gorg, but if you only have one night to go all out, why not do it in a bright, bold way? Beyond the bright color, this dress has major back appeal, perfect for an over-the-shoulder Insta shot.

Sky-High Necklines

2017 Prom Trends - Sky High Necklines

This dress goes all the way up and we wouldn’t have it any other way! Hitting on a few fun prom trends, this velvet version brings the attention to your beautiful face and sexy shoulders with a high halter neckline. Velvet is luxe all year long, but the open back and double side slits will keep you cool in the springier weather.

Flower Power

2017 Prom Trends - Flower Power

Wallflowers, step aside: this floral printed two-piece dress is not for blending in! One of the prom trends we totally love is a two-piece dress, and it gets even better in a bold print that reminds us of spring and sunshine. A dress like this is sure to be unique on prom night, and any girl who loves a little non-traditional fashion will live for this full-on floral moment.

We can’t wait to see what you are wearing on the big night! Which of these prom trends is your fave? Tell us in the comments and post any pics with #lovelulus so we can see!

BeautyProm Perfect Hair – The Tousled Ponytail

We’re absolutely loving ponytails for a simple yet chic hairstyle for special occasions! With prom just around the corner, we wanted to share our latest favorite take on the classic ponytail. This version features soft texture and tousled volume for a romantic look with a little bit of an edge. Read on to get the full steps for this prom perfect hairstyle!

Prom Perfect Hair - Hero

Step 1: If your natural hair texture is straight or wavy, start with clean, air-dried hair. If you have naturally curly hair, blow out clean hair with a round brush for a sleeker starting point.

Step 2: Add texture to hair by wrapping 1-inch sections around a 1½-2 inch barrel curling iron. The result should be loose waves. If your waves are slightly springier, don’t worry! As you continue working with the hairstyle the waves will loosen to a more natural finish.

Prom Perfect Hair - Steps 1 & 2

Step 3:  After curling all of you hair, gather the top section, starting at the arches of your eyebrows and ending at the back of the crown, creating a V shape. Twist and clip out of the way.

Step 4: Gather the remaining loose hair into a high ponytail at the back of your crown. Secure firmly with a hair tie, but be careful to keep some texture on the sides.

Prom Perfect Hair - Steps 3 & 4

Step 5: Once the ponytail is secure, unclip the top portion of your hair and with a fine-tooth comb or teasing comb, lightly backcomb the underside of the top section. This will add volume and texture to the top of the hairstyle. Split the top section into two halves on the left and right side of your head.

Step 6: Take the right section of hair and loosely twist back toward the ponytail. Secure in place with bobby pins.

Prom Perfect Hair - Steps 5 & 6

Step 7: Repeat Step 6 on the left side of the head.

Step 8: You should now have two loose ends of hair pinned at the top of the ponytail. Take these loose ends and lightly wrap around the base of the ponytail, covering the hair tie. Pin ends in place with bobby pins, being sure to secure them through the base of the ponytail for a firm hold.

Prom Perfect Hair - Steps 7 & 8

Step 9: Review your hair in a mirror (it helps to have a handheld mirror or phone camera to check out the back!) and lightly adjust pieces until you have your desired texture. Spray with texturizing spray to help strands maintain their tousled appearance. You may also want to secure the hairstyle with firm hold hairspray.

Step 10: That’s it! Check out your chic ponytail! This hairstyle would look great with a variety of prom dress necklines and styles!

Prom Perfect Hair - Steps 9 & 10
