*You may be able to purchase the Lemon Simple Syrup online (we used Sonoma Syrup’s Meyer Lemon version – so good!) or at specialty food stores and bottle shops, but making your own is as simple as combining sugar, water, lemon zest and lemon juice. See below for a simple syrup recipe you can use in anything from happy hour cocktails to summer afternoon sweet tea!

Lemon Simple Syrup (makes about 1 1/2 cups):

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water

Juice and zest from one lemon

Heat sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until sugar has dissolved and the mixture is clear. Remove from heat and add lemon juice and zest, stirring until just combined. Cover the mixture and allow to steep until cool. Once cooled, remove the lemon zest and store the syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four weeks. (This recipe was adapted from The Pioneer Woman website.)

FashionSunnies Roundup

Sunnies Roundup

The warmer months are fast approaching, meaning longer days and more destination getaways. Whether you’re lounging by the pool or going to Sunday brunch, it’s important to give your eyes some major shade while still looking hot, hot, hot. We’ve been on the lookout for the ultimate statement-makers of the season and have compiled a roundup of what sunnies to wear to make a splash. Who’s ready to play with spring and summer’s most popular stunners?

Mirror, Mirror

The trend: Mirrored lenses

Where to wear it: Sunday brunch

Play it low-key cool with mirrored sunglasses. With an array of colors to choose for the reflective mirrors, you’re bound to find one you’ll love to reflect all the haters. This look also goes perfectly with any frame shape, so stick with what you’re most comfortable with or choose to go bold and play with something new! Not to mention, the reflective lenses hide any makeup smudges leftover from Saturday night.

Here Kitty, Kitty

The trend: Cat-eye

Where to wear it: On a day date

We’re totally feline these eternally classic and chic sunnies this season. Wing it out with a long, angled frame or keep it short and sweet while still giving you a girly-glam look. These purr-fectly pretty sunglasses are the best accessory for lunch on the patio or cocktails at sunset.

Top Gun

The trend: Aviators

Where to wear it: In the great outdoors

We’ve been loving this retro-cool style for years! Keep it classic with a pair that sits comfortably on your face for a long hike or bike ride OR take it to the danger zone with an oversize pair on your next jet-ski or motorcycle adventure.

Pattern Play

The trend: Patterned frames

Where to wear it: By the pool

Make a statement with a pair of tortoiseshell, wood, or marbled sunglasses. Either fully framed or just a subtle pop, these patterns will surely keep the attention on you while lounging in the sun. Match it to your swimsuit (or don’t!) for maximum impact!

Power Brow

The trend: Browline details

Where to wear it: Your next selfie

Keep it high brow with a pair of sunglasses adorned with the browline feature. Browline sunglasses have a distinctive bar going across the top of the sunglasses giving you the ultimate power brows. Even if you haven’t mastered the perfect Instagram eyebrow, these major shades will get you all the likes.

Where are you wearing your sunnies? Tell us in the comments!

Model Moment: Anna Herrin

Model Moment: Anna Herrin needs a vacation

If you’ve ever shopped at Lulus, it’s impossible not to have seen the gorgeous Anna Herrin modeling everything from dresses to denim, sweaters to swimwear. Based on how often this babe is on the website, it’s fairly obvious how much we love Anna; she’s practically family. Not only is she the walking definition of #goals, she is one of the most down to earth people we have ever met. Spend a day with her in the studio and she will have you cracking up and slightly jealous of just how cool she is. For you to get to know (and love) her like we do, we sat down to sushi for a quick little Q&A:

If you could trade closets with any musician, who would it be?

2002 Britney Spears, mixed with Jimi Hendrix. I am not cool enough to go full Jimi, so I had to add in a dash of Britney to keep it realistic.

What was the last thing you binge watched?

The OA, I basically just wanted to watch it long enough to learn the dance they do in it. I was actually in New York and saw the main doctor in the series on the corner, and was like, “This is my moment, this is my time to break out into The OA dance!” But I didn’t know it.

Model Moment: Anna Herrin is born with it

If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring?

Can I bring a person to talk to? I would go insane. Okay, I would bring an ear, just someone who would listen. Like a Wilson with ears. I feel like on Survivor they always want a lighter, so the survivalist in me would bring that. And sunscreen. I want to make sure I don’t get sun damage on my island, haha.

What’s the coolest experience you’ve had modeling?

I recently got to go to Tahiti, where I got to stay in these awesome bungalows on the ocean. So I basically had my own private ocean overlooking these mountains, which was incredible. It was basically like going on a honeymoon by myself for work. And I got to swim with both sharks and stingrays, which was so amazing.

Which Spice Girl are you?

I have to be honest, I wasn’t even cool enough to like the Spice Girls as a kid, it’s more of a recent thing. But one time at camp, I pretended to know about them, and I was picked to be Scary Spice. But deep down I wanted to be Posh Spice.

Thanks, Anna, for sharing a little bit about yourself! You’ll always be our Posh.

We’ll be sharing more Model Moments in the future, giving you behind-the-scenes access to the glam (and sometimes not-so-glam) model life. If you have any questions you’d like us to ask, tell us in the comments!
