CelebrityEmma Stone: Red or Blonde?

You might know her from Superbad, House Bunny, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Zombieland, or Easy A as the girl with the gorgeous red hair and the engaging grin. However, you might not recognize Emma Stone as the startlingly beautiful blonde at this year’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and the Golden Globes.
Ranked #49 on Maxim’s Hot 100 of 2010 list, this lovely ingenue has recently forgone her luscious red locks (first colored in 2007 for Superbad) for her natural blonde strands.
Take a peek:

Born November 6, 1988, in Scottsdale AZ as Emily Jean Stone, Emma has been slowly growing in popularity since her start with the Valley Youth Theater in Phoenix, Arizona. She was just recently nominated for a Golden Globe for Easy A and is also in production for The Help and Spider-Man Reboot, set for 2011 and 2012, respectively.
Do you think her red hair was the key to her past success, or will she continue to wow us in the future as a bedazzling blonde?

FashionParis Fashion Week Spring 2011 Couture: The Future In Fashion at Armani Privé!

The future has now arrived and Tron: Legacy seems to have launched fashion into a video game where clothing looks more and more surreal. The Armani Privé spring 2011 couture show seems to be embracing a new sentiment, that we have to embrace ourselves for space travel in the near future.

It seems as though the metallic threads woven into these organza garments bent light at super speeds as the models floated down the runway.

Don’t these hats remind you of the discs that the programs of Tron:Legacy use to defend themselves? Odd reference for a couture show, I know, but I couldn’t help notice that they have a strikingly similar appearance!

Luckily there was a bit of color (teal, red, and fuchsia) thrown into the mix of gun metal silvers.

At least, as the years go by, we know that we’re already equipped with some pretty sweet futuristic clothes. And, as technology advances we’ll be able to create high heeled functioning moon boots and anti-gravity defiant gowns by the time we’re forced to use them!

Are you ready to move to the moon?

GeneralBirthday Bonanza: Fun Facts about Your Favorite Day!

January seems to be quite the birthday month here at Lulus, which I happen to love because it means more cake! Since today is my own birthday, I thought I’d do a little celebrating by researching some fun birthday trivia for you. Enjoy!
Fun Facts
  • The world’s largest birthday cake was created in 1989 for the 100th Birthday of the city of Fort Payne, Alabama. The cake weighed 128,238 pounds, 8 oz. and used 16,209 pounds of icing.

  • The most famous rendition of “Happy Birthday” is when Marilyn Monroe sang to “Happy Birthday, Mr President” to President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden on 19 May 1962.

  • The least common birth date in the U.S. is May 22nd.

  • Since your last birthday you will have had about 1,460 dreams

  • In England, when you reach 80, 90 or 100 years of age, you receive a telegram from the Queen.

  • The most common birth date in the U.S. is October 5.

  • The earliest birthday parties in history were held because it was feared that evil spirits were attracted to people on their birthdays. At first it was only kings who were recognized as important enough to have a birthday celebration. To protect them from harm, friends and family would help celebrate their birthday by spending time with the birthday person, bringing them good wishes, thoughts and presents. Hats and noisemakers were used at birthday parties, with the thought that the noisemakers were also a way to scare away the evil spirits. (Info taken from this website.)

  • The White House will also send a birthday greeting to any U.S. citizen who is a newborn or 80 years or older.

I also found out I share a birthday with Neil Diamond and the discovery of gold in California. Yippee!

FashionValentines Day 3 Ways: The Sweetheart

Is the concept of Valentine’s Day giving you wardrobe anxiety? Have you already ransacked your closet with the hopes of making an old dress work for your special night? I have just the solution for you my friends! Whether you have a special someone or are hanging out with your favorite friends this V-Day, I have just the thing for you! To make things simple I have broken it down to three styles: The Sweetheart, The Vixen, and The Nonconformist. Which one are you? Or are you like me and a little bit of all three? Let’s take a look at our first beauty, The Sweetheart. If this definitely isn’t you, visit us again on Wednesday and Friday for our other two looks!

We all know the sweetheart. She is a good girl with a good heart and dresses just the part. Often the girl next door, the beauty queen, the animal lover, the future school teacher, the Pep Squad leader, this girl is feminine and happy to be! Pink is a not a problem but other girly colors will do just as well. Smart and beautiful, the sweetheart knows how to be friends with everyone and to have the courage to dream big. Let’s look at some fabulous options if you are indeed The Sweetheart!

Two beautiful options shown here would make any sweetheart proud.  On the left we have the Glance of Flower Strapless Pink Dress. This elegant, light pink dress looks like fresh cut flowers! On the right we have the La Vie en Rose Pink Dress which would be perfect for twirling the night away!

Here we have 2 examples of truly sweet shoes! On the left we have a gorgeous pair called the Qupid Gaze Patent and Chiffon Slingbacks. I am obsessed with the smooth patent and the pretty chiffon on these heels! For something more understated the Go Max Ashland Natural Patent Pumps are perfect to wear not only for Valentine’s Day but with their super neutral color they will work year round.

When it come to accessories make sure to stay just as sweet! Try the Oh la Bow on for size in your choice of silver or gold. To tote all your necessities try the Powder Puff Purse in Black! I love the rosette-style look of this ruffled bag.

Whatever you end up wearing make sure to have fun! Check back in on Wednesday and Friday for more Valentine’s Day ideas!

FashionParis Fashion Week Spring 2011 Couture: Christian Dior

The doors have opened for Paris Fashion Week Spring 2011 Couture season and we’re already swooning with excitement. So far, from what I have seen at my desk on Style.com, Galliano has struck a goldmine with his collection for Christian Dior.

The collection looks back to the “New Look” and upholds a lady like demeanor fit for a queen. The models seem to be statues of socialite elegance strutting down the runway in the fullest skirts ever seen and wrapped in gowns containing enough fabric for all of Paris to fit under.

The color story isn’t too sophisticated and if it weren’t for the pale blue that seems to have been misted over some of the garments I would even venture to say that it was quite boring!

What seems to hold this collection together is the stoic and timeless elegance of the “Dior” woman. Galiano knows who his customers are and this collection will offer them some great red carpet, gala worthy pieces to choose from.
