FashionColor Theory: How to be bright, bold, and beautiful!

Let’s start the day with some positive fashion mantras that embrace color theory through fashion, all together now:

We LOVE color. We LOVE color blocking. We LOVE mixing and matching color. And most importantly we LOVE fashion!

Luckily, for anyone who just repeated that, fashion has turned towards being bright, bold, and beautiful. This means that if you’ve always felt like you were meant to be a world famous diva it is now ok to dress like one every day despite lacking an entourage of fans and paparazzi.

Speaking of the bold and beautiful, Rhianna brought saturation into our lives with her latest music videos and then rubbed her new colorific world into our senses with her new bright red hair. So, lets all embrace our inner Rhianna’s and go on a color journey into a whole new world created by How To Spend It Magazine

So, how are you going to embrace spring’s vibrant new hues?

FashionHow to Wear High-Waisted Shorts and Skirts: The Ultimate Vintage Look

The high-waisted trend has been around since the 1940s and it will be around for quite some time, which I am ecstatic about! It is the ideal fashion tip to elongate your legs and accentuate your waist. High-waisted bottoms are also a solution to every girl’s dread: the muffin top. The key is to find bottoms that hit your natural waist and hug your hips. Who doesn’t want to look like a tall vintage-inspired beauty queen?
Here are some style tips of how to attain the classic and sophisticated high-waist style:

1. Make sure your high-waisted shorts are nice and snug, they will be unflattering on you if there is bunching of the fabric.
2. Cropped tops are ideal for the high-waist look because of how easy they tuck in. Tuck in your shirt if you want to pull off this look, but don’t pull the top out too much because this adds volume to your waist. Also, do not tuck in too much or else you will look stiff and uncomfortable.
3. Belts are a great addition to this look. Pick a skinny belt to draw attention to your high-waisted style, or to emphasize your upper body and cinch your waist, a wide belt is perfect!
4. Heels heels heels! These are the perfect final touch to this look because heels add to the elongated look of the legs.

Here are some perfect options from Lulus to start you off with this trend the right way:

Now you are ready to show off your vintage-inspired look?

FashionPop Goes the Girl: Big Hair and Bright Colors Equals Big Style

This blog is for all your girls with big hair. It’s for all you girls who spend hours with the straightener only to go outside in the rain and humidity only to have it turn into a fro in seconds. It’s for you girls who will never have that straight, shiny hair we covet in the magazines.
It’s for all your girls with the most AWESOME HAIR EVER.
Check it out:
Entitled, “Pop Goes the Girl,” this ultra-glamorous shoot pairs rich chestnut curls against bright swatches of color for a not-so-subtle transition into spring. Featuring Alina Baikova (you might remember her from Siobhan‘s vibrant Summer Color Trends blog last week), this gorgeous editorial was shot by Kerry Hallihan for the January/Febrary 2011 edition of Numero Tokyo. To date, I think it is one of my favorite shoots in a very long time.
Thanks to Fashion Gone Rogue for the pics.
After looking through these again, I’m also decidedly all for her bright eye color, as well. With the bright pops in her wardrobe, it really brings here eyes to life. Plus, it’s just nice to do something different than our regular black and brown staples, don’t ya think?
All right you girls with curly hair (or creative girls with a curling iron)!
I dare you to pop!
