FashionOutfit Inspiration: Coachella

410With summer festival season upon us, and Coachella quickly approaching (24 days!), I thought I would give you guys some quick inspiring tips from some fashionable ladies to get your creative juices flowing on how to dress for one of the best summer festivals I’ve ever been to.
Coachella is hosted once a year on a weekend in April, down in the desert of Indio, CA and never fails to disappoint with both the music and fashion line-up. Spotting “street style” at summer festivals has been a fad in recent years, and below are some fashion staple outfits on the festival scene.
1. Back to the Basics: Florals

For any type of festival, floral print is always the go-to fabric. This print is perfect for the heat of the desert, and by adding a little brown belt, the perfect hat, and an awesome pair of sunnies you’ll always be looking good. Another plus: Stains won’t show up as much with a print, it can get pretty dirty in the desert.

2. Laid Back: Simple Chic

Most of the time Coachella is crowded and has some pretty gnarly heat, especially when you are in the middle of a hot & sweaty crowd. And in those situations, all you really want to be is comfortable. These ladies take it there by wearing simple outfits based around cut-off shorts and oversized shirts, matched with the perfect accessories. With small details such as the cowboy boots, the blue poncho, and the bright red hat- each of these looks embodies the laid back chic style.
3. Peak-a-boo: Crochets & Cutouts

It’s no secret that Indio get’s hot, real hot- up to 100 degrees farenheit somedays. A great way to both keep and look cool is by layering loose knit crochets with a pair of cut-offs and boots for a devil-may-care gypsy vibe, like Alessandra Ambrosio. Bring back the 90’s by channeling Pretty Woman in a cutout dress, which is also a perfect cover for your swimsuit. Or work it like Kate Bosworth, who kept it minimalistlic in her nude crochet dress and booties.

4. Hair Flair: the Ultimate Accessory
More than likely you will be camping when you go to Coachella, which means you won’t be able to wash your hair. Whether you are hiding some messy locks with a scarf or donning a hat to hide from the sun, hair accessories are a key tool to looking fresh at any festival, and also protects your head from those UV rays. The floppy hat paired with a maxi gives off an effortless boho chic, the straw fedora will perfectly compliment a bright girly dress, while the romper paired with the head scarf oozes retro-cuteness.
Which look will you be rocking at Coachella this year?

FashionLuLu*s at The Texas Style Council Conference: Day 1

Here at LuLu*s, we had the wonderful experience of taking part in a weekend full of fashion, friends, and food in the beautiful city of Austin, Texas! Attending and sponsoring the Texas Style Council Conference allowed us to meet new bloggers, finally meet some of the talented bloggers we already work with, and give away some serious LuLu*s swag! The Texas Style Council Conference (TxSCC) was a fabulous weekend with many events including a Clothing Swap hosted by and The Swapaholics, a Scavenger Hunt, a Dance Party and a Style and Social Media Symposium.

At the Dance Party, held at the stunning Bo Concept showroom in Austin, sponsors and brands setup shops, allowing guests to browse unique items such as vintage and new clothing, accessories, and more! We were able to create a LuLu*s Lounge, where attendees could come and chill, spin our prize wheel, and take a photo or two! We met so many wonderful people and had a blast giving away gift cards and cute jewelry.

Bloggers signed in to our guest book and picked up a flyer outlining a way to win a $500 shopping spree to!

Excited faces lit up the room while spining the prize wheel! Everyone was hoping for the $100 gift cards!

Two of my favorite ladies! Above we have the beautiful Kendi of the beloved blog, Kendi Everyday! Below, we have the lovely Jen from the oh-so-popular blog Jen Loves Kev! These two ladies couldn’t be more charming and sweet in real life. It is so fun to make “internet” friends and be even more delighted by their shiny personalities and presence!

I love this face! Everyone had so much fun at this event!

After spinning the wheel, some winners had the luck of getting to choose a piece of jewelry from our table! We had everything from Claire Fong earrings and cute-as-a-button bowtie necklaces to bangles and glittering tarantula bracelets (a suprising fan favorite!).

Just two of my new favorite people in the world, Melissa and Amy from The Swapaholics (far left and center-left). These two creative cuties get to jet set around and host swaps around the country as the official event hostesses for! Sounds like a dream job! Alessandra and I (center-right and far right) were lucky enough to get some hang out time with this adorable duo and snap a few pics while we were at it!

Jen is looking happy as a clam hanging out with another favorite blogger of mine, the lovely Katy of Kansas Couture! I love the color of Jen’s shoes along side the vibrant coral shade of Katy’s dress. Looking peachy in our Queen of Anything Coral Dress, Katy knows that spring is all about the brights! All in all, the dance party was a great time spent one-on-one with both known and up-and-coming bloggers. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday than dancing the night away with creative people in a city as beautiful as Austin!

But of course we made time for some authentic southern BBQ! Nothing beats Texas BBQ and the trip would be incomplete without it!

FashionTrend Alert: Precious Prints!

Prints Galore!

Everyone likes a little variety in their life, right? So, it is time to add some spice to our wardrobe and play around with some precious prints. Unique and colorful prints are taking over the runway this spring and we are having fun with this super cute trend! Whether you wear prints head-to-toe or sport them subtly, you will be sure to find some fun with this look. Here is your excuse to release your inner-artist and indulge in this fun and spicy trend!
Givenchy, Diane von Furstenberg, Suno, Z Spoke
The greatest thing about prints is that they can be anything! From subdued earthy tones to colorful palettes, there are no limits with the print potential! It is even fun to mix and match different prints. The only thing to be aware of when experimenting with this trend is to not go overboard. If you over-do your prints then you might be distracting to the eye and no one wants that! The key to this is to make a contrast by pairing different kinds of prints together (such as florals and stripes) in order to add some variety to your look. If you place prints together that are too similar (such as two animal prints) this might make your look a bit overpowering. If prints are a bit too much for you, do not think that you cannot enjoy this trend. Try wearing a neutral dress with some precious printed heels! Or you can wear a printed dress with a simple cardigan over. The point is to just have fun and release all inhibitions through your wardrobe!
LuLu*s has an ADORABLE variety of different prints that will be sure to suit any style:

FashionSpace Age Androgyny: Andrej Pejic in Dazed and Confused Magazine

In an amazing, conceptual shoot for the April 2011 edition of Dazed and Confused Magazine, model Andrej Pejic is transformed into a colorful and metallic work of art.

Rejic has quickly become the face of fashion androgyny with the ability to embody beauty of any form. This space age interpratation is no different. With geometric shapes and bursts of light and color, this editorial is one of my current favorites.

Robbie Spencer, the magazine’s fashion editor, was the mastermind behind the styling of the shoot, using iconic fashion labels such as Lanvin, Vivienne Westwood and Miu Miu

Many talented individuals came together to complete this other-worldly set of amazing images. Contributors include spectacular makeup by Ayami Nishimura and prop work by the visionary Gary Card. With photography by Anthony Maule, a well repected young trailblazer, the images come together to create a visual fairytale of a land far away. Make sure to pick up the April 2011 issue of Dazed and Confused Magazine to have this amazing editorial all to yourself.
