FashionThe Gilded Tribe of Vivienne Westwood!

Earlier this week, we peeked at Vivienne Westwood’s new Palladium line of jewelry, but the real show came out earlier this month with the release of her Gold Label Fall/Winter 2011/12 collection at Paris Fashion Week!
With metallic gilding and gold sparkles galore, these half tribal, half fairytale fashions are gorgeously out of this world. Personally I love the bold ashy make-up that is brushed and smudged to invoke a sense of the tribal. It gives a daringly fierce look that calls to mind a band of woman warriors.
I sense a strong Celtic influence here, with boiling red hair, knotty side braids that frame the face and cape-like jackets that spring from another time and place. Medieval bodices and gowns add a light whimsy to some of the darker elements, but the collection as a whole is fresh and contemporary.
Glittered boots match the gold-glittered runway giving the model a sort of unearthly lift.
Savage yet sophisticated.
With a black army helmet and distressed skinny pants, this ensemble definitely pushes the modern side of the collection.

Check out that gorgeous wedding dress for the untamed bride and Ms. Vivienne looking very whimsical herself! (Added bonus: the model on the right is smiling; a rare model moment!)
What do you think of the drifting black make-up?
Fierce and fashionable, or just a smoky hot mess?

GeneralTake a Mini Photo Tour of Ireland!

Whilst studiously writing and blogging away this week, some of us Lulus girls were discussing what our plans were for the illustrious St. Patty’s Day. It got me to reminiscing, and I decided to hunt through some of my old pics. Oh the memories! A girlfriend and I backbacked through Europe a few years ago, and Ireland was one of our very favorite stops (it must be the McClintock in me!)
To get you in the true spirit of the holiday, I’ve posted some of my favorite pics from the trip!

Doonagore Castle, Doolin, County Clare

Traditional Irish music being played in a pub

One of the bridges crossing the River Liffey in Dublin

Kissing the Blarney Stone!

The mighty Cliffs of Mohr

Irish cemetery during a brief sunny moment

Irish traffic!
Sooo…anybody ready to hop on the next plane over? I wish!
Well, hopefully these pictures will tide you over! Have a safe and happy St. Patrick’s Day, and may the luck o’ the Irish be with you!

CelebrityJersey Shore Love

It’s T-Shirt time!!!!!!!!
I don’t know about you, but I am OBSESSED with Jersey Shore and am oh so excited about all of the madness that has been prevailing this season. I am greatly anticipating season four even more so because MTV is sending the bronzed group to Italy and I can only imagine the crazy situations these individuals will get themselves into. Yes, Pauly D, Mike “The Situation”, Snookie, J-Woww, Vinny, Sammi, Ronnie, and Deena will be sent off overseas to tap a little more into their roots. I simply cannot wait to see how real Italians will react to their antics and what will result of it all. Whether it is Seaside Heights or lovely Italy I will be tuning in and I hope you do too!
Isn’t this picture adorable? Looks like the Jersey Shore love is contagious.

BeautyGo Botanical: Boscia Skincare Review

Any skin care junkies out there?
If so, then this post is for you! If you’re not one yet, however, I might just be able to win you over. About a month ago, I began using some products from the skin care line known as Boscia, and I am officially hooked!
I wanted to do reviews on some of the products I’ve been using so you can get some real-life testimonials on this awesome brand. Luckily for you, Lulus has recently teamed up with Boscia, so keep your eyes peeled in the upcoming weeks for a contest involving both our sites. For now, sit back and learn about some skin care that might just rock your socks!
So what is Boscia, you might ask.
In a nutshell, it’s a skin care line made up of products that are both preservative-free and botanically-based. It was created by a Japanese company called FANCL, which was founded in 1981 by Kenji Ikemori, a Japanese entrepreneur whose life work is focused on creating skincare products and supplements without preservatives.
In 2002, the president of FANCL introduced this revolutionary skincare to the US in the form of Boscia to offer American women a product that met their skincare needs with natural products and without preservatives. The line includes cleansers, moisturizers, treatments, blotting linens, and other products, each of which contain (except for the blotting linens) Willowherb, a unique anti-irritant, and Jojoba Leaf, a strong and effective antioxidant.
Whew, done. Ready for the review?
I’m going to start off today with the first two steps in their skincare regimen:  cleanser and tonic.
Recommended for: Normal to Oily Skin, Combination Skin.
I’ve been using the Purifying Cleansing Gel every morning and night for the past month or so, and I can honestly say that this cleanser is one of the most effective I’ve used in a long time. You know that greasy, kinda sticky feel you often get after you wash your face with regular drugstore cleansers? There’s none of that here. It actually feels CLEAN, like you’ve really got all the makeup off for once. It makes me feel like my skin is totally pure and fresh, not waxy or gunky. Just mix a little warm water with the gel to get it to foam up, massage over your face, rinse, and ta-da!
I also love this cleanser because I have oily skin, and after washing with it my face is no longer greasy. It dries your skin just a touch, which I LOVE, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this for very dry skin; however, every other kind of skin will love it. Another plus? The Hydrangea Leaf in it refines your pores, so after you use it you skin almost immediately looks tighter and younger.
Conclusion:  I love the knowledge that I’m washing my face with something that is actually good for me. It has a really soft, almost unnoticeable scent, and a little goes a long way. Usually, I’m all for the cheapy drugstore brands, but my mind has been changed. This stuff is definitely worth the money.
Recommended For:  Normal to Oily, Normal to Dry, Combination
The Balancing Facial Tonic is probably my favorite of all the Boscia products so far. After you’re done washing your face, simply close your eyes and mist it on. The lavendar water and all the rest of the botanical ingredients seriously feel like you’re walking through a tropical forest — I love the smell so much! It balances out your skin and hydrates it, but the best part? It’s incredibly calming. Stressful day? Fight with a friend? Simply mist it on and ahhhh, instant relaxation. It’s great for all skin types, so you should all get a bottle of this stuff.
Conclusion:  This is the best toner I’ve ever used. Love it.
