FashionVintage Spotlight: A Retro Kind of Summer

With vintage inspired designs so hot for this spring and summer I thought it would be nice to examine some of the original designs and appreciate some of our vintage selections! With 60′s mod dresses, 70′s prints, ponchos and more, LuLu*s has you covered for your Summer of Love!

This perfect 60′s Pendleton Camel Shift Dress is a classic sixties dress and the color will go great with anything. Lately I have loved seeing cool neutrals paired with electric brights and this is the perfect shift to start with!

This summer you will find me in dresses similiar to the Bali-High Boho Dress, shown above. Pretty paisley print and perfect puff sleeves make this a go-to choice when the temperature heats up!

For the transistion from spring to summer reach for the Gilligan’s Sassy Sister sweater to stay warm. I love the sienna color and the v-neck collar! So easy to pair with denim!

For cool summer nights throw the Boho Aztec Fringe Poncho in your bag and hit the road! Perfect with cut-off denim shorts and moccasins; you will get tons of wear out of this vintage poncho!

What vintage will you be wearing this summer?

GeneralCutest Candy Ever!: Andie’s Specialty Sweets

I love buttons.
I also love candy.

Just take one little peek at these peppermint-infused cast sugar wonders and tell me you’re not in love!

The California-based Andie’s Specialty Sweets is coming to a webpage near you with mail order sweets that go way beyond the norm. Using quality local and organic ingredients, this mom & pop based business creates specialty confections for weddings and occasions.

I first fell in love with their candy buttons that come in a variety of color combos and flavors. Cast from vintage button molds these tasty little beauties are truly an innovative edible decor.

This flower and butterfly necklace is made from sugar and totally edible. What a tempting treat for a bride or a birthday girl!

From bolds to pastels to beloved chocolate, Andie’s Specialty Sweets is one of my favorite new sweet shops, for sure.

FashionTrend Alert: Pretty in Polka Dots

Something about polka dots makes me want to grab a burger and take my girls to the drive-in in my pink ’55 Chevy convertible! Okay, so this is only a fantasy, but why not pretend? Polka dots, big and small, are becoming a much-loved fashion trend of mine this spring.  A stand-alone staple for generations, polka dots are now being paired with cute stripes or or prints for a contemporary twist! They’re always a fun addition to any outfit if you want to add a little something sweet to your ensemble.

Haute Dots: Large or bolder dots can add a little fun to a sophisticated party outfit, and smaller dots can add a playful effect to any outfit while making it a little more casual.

BeautyAlexa Chung on the Cover of British Vogue!

Trendsetter Alexa Chung graces the cover of British Vogue for the June 2011 issue looking as beautiful as ever! With soft bangs and a tousled wave, her chic bob is picture perfect.
Alexa has been a hair icon for years and has been setting trends since she arrived on the scene! Check out some of my favorite hair looks from years past.

Similar to the Vogue cover, look this soft and feminine bob is the perfect length for Alexa’s face shape. The caramel hue makes her eyes look even more blue!

Alexa had a heads up on the ombre trend back in 2009. With dark roots and a lighter tone on the tips, Alexa was one of  the first to make this hairstyle sensation a hit!

Fixing the bangs into a chic side braid is the perfect way to get your hair out of your face while changing up the style. Keep it loose and tousled for a soft and easy look.

What do you think of Alexa’s styles? Which one is your favorite?
