Forming it Up: Artist Tara Donovan

Art | 06 October 2010

Welcome to the elegant world of sculptor Tara Donovan.

Working with unusual amounts of very common materials, Donovan creates beautiful biomorphic forms that literally fill gallery walls (and ceilings).

The astonishing work above entitled “Bluffs” is comprised of nothing more than simple buttons and glue.

Look at the meticulous precision put into each piece!

With a crew of assistants, Donovan creates these modern day masterpieces in her Williamsburg workshop and loft!

This 2002 work “Colony” is made from only pencils and glue!

Plain styrofoam cups are glued into this breathtaking cloud-like form.

The artist at home behind one of her brilliant pieces!

Perhaps you have seen some of Donovan’s work, what do you think?
Do any of these works leave you inspired?

Did you see these?
