GeneralGalentine’s Day Guide

VDayBlogHeaderGalentinesGuide2February 14th gets plenty of hype, but all too often people forget about the importance of celebrating your gal pals . . . that’s where Galentine’s Day comes in! February 13th, or Galentine’s Day, is all about celebrating your female friendships. What’s the best way to celebrate? By throwing a little Galentine’s brunch bash and inviting all your besties! We’ve got a few tips to help make this Galentine’s Day the best one yet!

1) Heart-Shaped Deliciousness: You’d be amazed how many different foods can be made in the shape of a heart! We recommend you invest in some heart cookie cutters and get creative. Pancakes, french toast, eggs, fruit, doughnuts, all these brunch classics (and more!) can be turned into Galentine’s themed treats.

2) Signature Sippers: Mimosas are the quintessential brunch beverage, so give then a Galentine’s twist by using ruby red grapefruit juice or cranberry juice instead of the traditional OJ. Or, skip the champagne all together and try mixing juice with the clear soda of your choice to add some bubbly fun. Don’t forget to garnish! We say go with some sweet strawberries, or take a little inspo from our first tip and garnish with a piece of heart shaped melon.

3) Creative Cards: Show your gal pals how much their friendship matters with a homemade Galentine’s Day card. You can look for inspiration from famous besties (you’re the Anne Perkins to my Leslie Knope!), or break out the doilies and red paper and make something that captures the style of the season. Either way, gifting your girls with a little homemade card is a heartfelt way to let them know you care!

CelebrityZosia Mamet Gets Stylish for InStyle

Zosia Mamet is one of our favs! Why? Because she’s talented, beautiful, and we love watching her on HBO’s Girls! Recently Mamet showed off her modeling skills in InStyle Magazine, wearing gorgeous ensembles styled by Melissa Rubini. We are particularly fond of that lovely embroidered silk Valentino dress, styled with a light wash J. Brand denim jacket. Photographer Bjarne Jonasson definitely captured the quirky yet classy personality that makes this starlet so amazing!

CelebrityPretty in Pink Wedding Dresses

With big budgets and creativity galore, celebrity weddings often leave the traditional behind in fun and extravagant ways. Kaley Cuoco, for instance, is the latest in a string of starlets who have opted for pink wedding dresses instead of the traditional white. Cuoco’s gorgeous gown is a custom Vera Wang in the most adorable shade of pink, with a strapless neckline and plenty of volume to spare. Another lovely lady who opted for pink is none other than Portia de Rossi. She wore a very pale pink Zac Posen gown, with a voluminous tulle skirt and a breathtaking low-cut back. Rocker Gwen Stefani went with pink as well, donning a graceful dip-dyed silk Dior gown that’s the perfect mix of girly and punk. Anne Hathaway also went for the pink ombre look. She walked down the isle a custom Valentino gown featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline and plenty of romantic lace.

Care to weigh in on this tradition-breaking trend? Are these ladies pretty in pink, or does the colorful wedding dress trend need to end?

CelebrityVanessa Hudgens: Fun with Flare

Vanessa Hudgens holds it down on the cover of Flare’s February 2014 issue, resulting in a sleek and sexy photo shoot with photographer David Roemer! Modern, streamlined pieces make their appearance alongside some Risky Business-esque styles that perfectly complement Hudgens’ naturally flawless features, plus a mix of messy and slicked down hairdos. We can tell it was a fun day on the set with this young starlet! Vanessa HudgensHudgens3Hudgens4Hudgens2Hudgens5
