MusicMonday Music Must: Chill Out and Smell the Roses

“I’m froze by desire… ” to keep listening to this playlist on repeat. I’m so obsessed that I even set my Pandora station to The XX (which I recommend that you do right now) and made a Grooveshark playlist with these songs and a few others.

Infused with a combination of heart wrenching lyrics set to beats made to keep your toes tapping this playlist will definitely give you a much needed chill out, after work relaxing, or, if you’re on the go, it’s great for walking/driving/biking as well.

First up, we have a song that I can’t get off my mind lately, “Islands” by The XX.

Second we get to go to the “Golden Age” with the Beach Fossils

Third, it’s “Boxer by Lovers. This is another one that I cannot get out of my head).

I hope you listen to this short and sweet playlist while you’re out doing whatever it is you’re doing!

Have a great week!

MusicLady Gaga Day: Lady Gaga’s Lyrics for “Born This Way” Just Released!

The lyrics for Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” single have just been released as a teaser for every Gaga fan out there! FYI the song is going to be officially released on February 13th.

Lady Gaga is known for her outrageous and completely fearless wardrobe choices on and off the red carpet. She is a diva fashionista that has become one of the most important patron’s of the art of haute couture fashion. Whatever you think of Lady Gaga she’s undeniably a billion dollar rule breaker and trend setter. I thoroughly enjoy her unwavering courage in not EVER giving in to what people think or might think of her and her songs, especially “Born This Way”, are carrying out a message that will give courage to anyone who’s ever felt the outcast.

Here are the fist few verses of the “Born This Way Single” (if you want the rest like I did check out her site):

My mama told me when i was young
We are all born superstars
She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
in the glass of her boudoir

There’s nothing wrong with loving who you are
she said, cause he made you perfect, babe
So hold your head up girl and you’ll go far
listen to me when I say

I’m beautiful in my way
’cause god makes no mistakes
I’m on the right track baby
I was born this way

Don’t hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you’re set
I’m on the right track baby
I was born this way

Lady Gaga is gaudy, crazy, nutty, and a looney but I’ve never not danced to a song of hers when it comes on and I’ll always strive to have even a tenth as much fashion courage as she does. I hope these lyrics were as inspiring to you as they were to me! And remember to embrace your inner Gaga this weekend and have fun with your outfits.

Soooooo just for fun I’m going to predict that Lady Gaga snaps up half of the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2011 haute couture show for her upcoming outings/events.

Here are a few of my ideas, that is as if Nicolas Formichetti (her stylist) didn’t have enough!

The satin trench on the left would make a great coat for errands, while the white bondage gown would be great for dinner with the family or a first date?

Wow the lightweight body suit and cover up on the left would be perfect for candid photos of Gaga relaxing at home for Vogue or something, while on the piece on the right is performance worthy!

Then for hair… I’m sure that Gaultier has a few of these detachable mohawks laying around and will lend her one! Also the beaded/netted glasses are perfect for a little cover-up from the paparazzi.

FashionParis Fashion Week Spring 2011 Couture: Elie Saab’s Fairy Tale Show

Is your week moving at an unbearably slow pace? I find that when my week seems mundane and boring I look to the fashion shows and websites/blogs for a little creative pick me up. These shows, even if I can’t actually go to them seem to put a smile on my face instantly. Today’s feature is on Elie Saab‘s fairy tale line that, well, always takes me to a far off land of pretty princesses and dainty fairies!

We begin with blush pinks that sparkle in the pale light.

Lavender and a light floral print get mixed into this far away place where 6 feet tall gangly models room freely in the meadows and lakes.

And here a deep red knocks a little bit of energy to our day dreaming senses and graces us with a bit of sex appeal.

Then, we’re back to neutrals with an off white color that the moon would be envious of

It’s always good to finish a show off with a little bit of drama and Saab shocks our sensual sides with the blackest of black gown that’re so sexy they’d make Angelina Jolie blush.

So did this help infuse your day with a little trip to never never land?

FashionParis Fashion Week Spring 2011 Couture: The Future In Fashion at Armani Privé!

The future has now arrived and Tron: Legacy seems to have launched fashion into a video game where clothing looks more and more surreal. The Armani Privé spring 2011 couture show seems to be embracing a new sentiment, that we have to embrace ourselves for space travel in the near future.

It seems as though the metallic threads woven into these organza garments bent light at super speeds as the models floated down the runway.

Don’t these hats remind you of the discs that the programs of Tron:Legacy use to defend themselves? Odd reference for a couture show, I know, but I couldn’t help notice that they have a strikingly similar appearance!

Luckily there was a bit of color (teal, red, and fuchsia) thrown into the mix of gun metal silvers.

At least, as the years go by, we know that we’re already equipped with some pretty sweet futuristic clothes. And, as technology advances we’ll be able to create high heeled functioning moon boots and anti-gravity defiant gowns by the time we’re forced to use them!

Are you ready to move to the moon?

FashionParis Fashion Week Spring 2011 Couture: Christian Dior

The doors have opened for Paris Fashion Week Spring 2011 Couture season and we’re already swooning with excitement. So far, from what I have seen at my desk on, Galliano has struck a goldmine with his collection for Christian Dior.

The collection looks back to the “New Look” and upholds a lady like demeanor fit for a queen. The models seem to be statues of socialite elegance strutting down the runway in the fullest skirts ever seen and wrapped in gowns containing enough fabric for all of Paris to fit under.

The color story isn’t too sophisticated and if it weren’t for the pale blue that seems to have been misted over some of the garments I would even venture to say that it was quite boring!

What seems to hold this collection together is the stoic and timeless elegance of the “Dior” woman. Galiano knows who his customers are and this collection will offer them some great red carpet, gala worthy pieces to choose from.
