1960s: Rosemary’s Baby

In this 1968 classic, Mia Farrow plays a young wife who has just moved into a new apartment with some particularly nosy neighbors. She becomes pregnant, the neighbors care way too much, and let’s just say, THINGS GET WEIRD. This is a total classic, not to be missed. Plus Mia Farrow has inspired women for decades with her iconic pixie cut and the for-real cutest ’60s mod baby doll dresses! Two for one – thrill and frill!

1970s: Dawn of the Dead

The year was 1978, and one of the best, most gory zombie movies ever, hit the box office. Dawn of the Dead takes place during the zombie apocalypse, and primarily in a shopping mall, making this a culturally relevant hit. Director George A. Romero is widely considered to be the zombie king, with his satirical horror edge being a fan favorite. This is a must-see if you are into zombies!

the shining

1980s: The Shining

The Shining is basically one of the most frightening movies ever. A young man, Jack Torrence (played by Nicholson, above)  takes a position as the caretaker of a very old and very large hotel, The Overlook. Moving his wife Wendy and their young son Danny into the hotel proves fatal as twisted events unfold. Danny has psychic abilities and let’s just say some things have happened over the years at the old Overlook Hotel. Wendy and Danny bear witness to Jack’s psychological demise as they fight for their lives in this twisted thriller. One of the finest performances of Nicholson’s career, this movie will scare you to bits.

silence of the lambs

1990s: The Silence of the Lambs

Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster team up for one of the weirdest and most troubling crime fighting duos ever, in 1991′s The Silence of the Lambs. Foster plays a young FBI agent who needs help from convicted killer, Hannibal Lecter, to catch serial killer Buffalo Bill, who is murdering women and skinning them alive. Enough said? Let us know if you have a hankering for fava beans after watching this! LOL

2000s: The Ring

In 2002 a movie came out that really stuck with some of us here at LuLu*s. What’s the plot of this movie? WELL … it’s called The Ring. And there’s this VHS tape, right? Apparently if you watch it, it kills you within 7 days. WHAT?! Crazy, right? Trust us it doesn’t end there. Naomi Watts plays a journalist who investigates this alleged rumor and gets WAY caught up in the story. This is a for sure edge-of-your-seat thriller that will never let you look at a well the same again.

2010s: The Cabin in the Woods

You know what sounds really fun? Planning a camping trip with ALL of your friends. And then choosing a cabin in the most remote of woods. And then crawling into the basement to find the dustiest, eeriest, most demon-possessed items on Earth. And then unleashing said demons unto the world and watching all hell break loose! NOT. It may seem like we spoiler-ed the crap out of you, but trust us, there are enough bone-chilling, gory happenings in this movie to last a lifetime. There’s also a unicorn. No, we’re NOT joking.
