MusicListen Up! Foxygen Releases New Album Today!

If you haven’t heard of Foxygen, you’re in for a 21st century treat!

The newest babes in musicland, Sam France and Jonathan Rado (a mere 22 years old apiece) have come in swinging some really groovy tunes with their promising album “We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic”. These mini masters are standing on the cutting edge of indie folk rock with a dreamy, Kinks-influenced California sound that’s been accurately accused ofย  “…slamming together the archetypal flower children of the 60s and the archetypal ADHD vapidity of our recent generations.”

Following a short European tour, Foxygen will kick off their 2013 album release in the states in the Great American Music Hall in homage to their track “San Francisco”. Check out this video, then click here to listen to the entire album!

FashionModel Pick of the Week: The Cutest Blue Romper!

Blue Romper

If you’ve got a thing for spring, give it a warm welcome in the cutest blue romper to step out from the winter snow; the Dot of the Bay Blue Polka Dot Romper! Get ready to flaunt your hourglass figure, too! Our model Alexis loved the flattering fit of this little one-piece, and touts it to be a perfect spring/summer outfit, just throw it on and go… “you can’t do better than that!”

FashionEmerging Designer: Stella Jean

Feast your eyes on the transatlantic conquests of emerging designer Stella Jean and be wowed by the bold batiks paired with checks, stripes, jewels, and a menagerie of animal prints. Unlike most designers, this Italian-born former model pulls the resort card season after season, dishing up savory pattern play tailored with a feminine, fifties sensibility.

Some of my favorite looks from her spring/summer 2013 ready-to-wear collection include studded details along turbans, stacked cuffs, and sky-high heels. Woven hats team with extravagant earrings and collar necklaces to top the clever color combinations that are reminiscent of a bustling marketplace, and a sunny pop of yellow eyeshadow ensures you’re transported directly to a land of warmer-weather and unabashed color.

FashionIt Girl: Esther Quek

If you’ve ever dabbled in the menswear trends (or admired the women who do) it’s time you should meet Esther Quek. It comes as no surprise that Esther Quek is the fashion director of menswear magazine The Rake, but what IS surprising is her uncanny ability to pull together a tailored blazer, slacks, loafers, ties, and a seriously short haircut, while still looking fabulously feminine.
