Get Pampered: DIY Lemon Honey Face Mask
It’s time to gather your girls for a night in with wine, movies, and our DIY Lemon Honey Face Mask recipe! This easy beauty DIY includes only three simple ingredients that you (probably) already have in your kitchen and has tons of skin benefits to boot. It’s tightening, brightening, and will leave your skin glowing and rejuvenated! Read on to get your glow on.
Lemon juice is a natural astringent* that cuts through excess oil and sloughs off dead skin cells to result in brighter, smoother skin. It also aids in the lightening of the skin to reduce the appearance of blemishes, discoloration, and scarring for a more even skin tone.
Egg whites are to thank for the amazing tightening benefits of this face mask. They aid in firming the skin and promoting the appearance of shrinking pores to increase elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Raw honey is an amazing super food, inside and out. It not only helps to draw moisture into the skin, but has amazing antibacterial and healing properties that assist in reducing acne and preventing breakouts.
1 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice*
1 egg white (separated from yolk)
1 tbsp honey (unfiltered raw honey is best for your face, but any honey that you have on hand will do!)
*Lemon juice is acidic and can be irritating for sensitive skin. We recommend that you do a small patch test on your skin before applying this mask and if you experience any adverse effects, please omit from the recipe.
Combine all ingredients into a small bowl and whisk together until combined
Using your fingers or a cotton ball spread the mask evenly all over your face avoiding your eye, nose, and mouth area. It’s best to do this over a sink as it can get a little messy.
Let the mask sit for 20-30 minutes or until dry
Rinse gently with warm water and finish with your normal moisturizing routine
Store any leftover mask in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days
