As I may have mentioned once or five times before, I love the holidays and everything they entail. I take Christmas shopping, decorating, caroling, and cookie eating very seriously. I consider it my duty, therefore, to watch as many Christmas movies as possible.
One of my very favorite movies is The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black. As I was watching (for the tenth time maybe?) on my warm squishy couch with a lovely cup of hot chocolate, I began to notice the really great winter make-up these girls are rockin.
Let’s start with the lovely Ms. Diaz. Of course she is just naturally gorgeous, but there are definitely some tricks you can try to get her soft look.
Take a peek at these peepers:
On the top lid, you can see that she’s wearing a really warm pink across the top of both lids. This is a great accent color that sets off her baby blues. It looks like she might have just a touch of white eye highlighter beneath the brow bone, and then she’s rimmed her upper and lower lids with a really beautiful purple-grey liner that again accentuates the blue. A couple coats of mascara, et voila! Gorgeous eyes that don’t look too fussy but really stand out. Matching pale pink lipstick brings this whole pastel winterland look together.
The beautiful Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses, not only for her great acting skills, but also for the fact that she just seems so very real and genuine.
I think this idea is really projected in this freeze-frame as well, even though she is acting. There is a natural glow all about her. She’s either got really great skin or a really fantastic foundation. There’s also a little bit of rosy blush on her skin, and then she finishes up with a gorgeous shade of rosy dark pink. With simple pearl earrings and loose waves, Kate has effectively created a truly lovely look that is no fuss and totally romantic.
