Taylor Swift for Vogue

Celebrity | 27 January 2012

by

Who doesn’t love Taylor Swift? How can a girl that famous, that pretty, that rich, be so down-to-earth??? Well if you’re looking for ammo to build a case against her, the February issue of Vogue‘s got nothing for you. If, however, you’d like to ooo and ahh over a gorgeous collection of photos of Miss Swift looking ah-mazing, then you’re one lucky girl (or boy, I guess).

I’m SO in love with the hippie-boho-rocker feel of this shoot. Makes me want to go home and watch Almost Famous.

So, now I feel kind of shallow because all I really care about is the pretty pictures. The thing is, the interview is actually totally worth reading as well, so I really must recommend checking out the whole darn article.

Hot Guy Spotlight: Jack & Joe

Celebrity | 26 January 2012

by

Anyone who’s ever been to the LuLu*s warehouse will know that there are a LOT of girls here. In fact, out of all the employees who work here, the girls outnumber the guys 12 to 1. All the guys who work here are awesome, but the ratio is a little low; sometimes I just need an extra dose of manliness in my life.

And so . . . without futher ado, I bring you two guys with special swoon appeal.

Exhibit A:

The first, you probably know. Otherwise known as Joe Manganiello, he is best known for his role as the hunky werewolf Alcide on HBO’s True Blood. He’s also starred in How I Met Your Mother, Spider-Man 2&3, One Tree Hill, and a bunch of other movies and TV shows. He is also known for his delicious abs.

Exhibit B

Jackson Hurst. If any of you watch Drop Dead Diva (you know who you are, fellow Netflix addicts), then you’ll know who I’m talking about. He plays the brooding lawyer Grayson Kent and looks damn fine in a suit. You might have also seen him in the 2011 A Bird of the Air, or last year’s new series Unforgettable.

Both of these guys have seriously great hair! Yum! Anyway…um, moving on…

So do any of you have any unknown hotties we NEED to know about right now? If so, it is really your duty to tell us about them below. K thanks.

Betty White Turns 90: The Queen of Entertainment

Celebrity | 17 January 2012

Ninety years ago today a wonderful lady was born named Betty Marion White. Miss White is truly a relic of a time that has passed.  She has been in the entertainment business since 1939 and has been keeping her career strong with her current hit show, Hot In Cleveland. There is something about Betty’s charisma that is encapsulating, making you want to reach out and give her a hug. Whenever anyone asks Betty why she won’t retire, she replies, “Why should I quit when I’m having such a good time?”

Betty White began her career modeling after gradating high school and then joined the American Women’s Voluntary Services during World War II. After working with a variety of radio shows, she finally landed her own, The Betty White Show.  The next milestone in her career was her role as Sue Ann Nivens in The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Her next major career highlight was her role as Rose Nylund in The Golden Girls. I am probably the biggest Golden Girls fan I know and it is all because of Betty.

Betty White’s career has spanned over seven decades and counting, and now her life is eclipsing nine. She has won seven Emmy awards, among countless others, and was included in Television’s Hall of Fame in 1955, a mere 16 years into her amazing career. I cannot wait to see what Betty White still has in store for us. Below you can see her getting some lip action for hottie Zachary Levi for her 90th birthday celebration!

Happy birthday Betty from all of us here at Lulu*s, we love you!

Lady Gaga: A Look Back on 2011

Celebrity | 27 December 2011

by

With the New Year close at hand, I thought we’d take a look back on 2011 using one of the most common motifs to orbit the sun: the mug of Lady Gaga.

From Vogue to Vanity Fair, Bazaar to Visionaire, the honorable Lady Gaga managed to grace a whopping 36 magazine covers in 2011. With her shocking facial prosthetics and bold antics (like claiming they were real) there seemed to be no one we would have rather seen staring us down in the grocery aisle, or rolled up in our dimly lit mailboxes. But I ask you, do you think you saw all 36?

For the grand finale this 7 foot tall copy of Visionaire, with a limited print of 2500 copies, sums up the impact of Gaga-Mania; larger than life indeed.

Retro Fox: Jean Harlow

Celebrity | 05 December 2011

If you aren’t already familiar with Hollywood’s very first platinum blonde beauty, let me introduce you to the incredible Jean Harlow!

Born Harlean Carpenter in 1911 in Kansas City, Missouri, she was the first fair-haired vixen to grace the big screen, earning her the nickname “The Blonde Bombshell” before Marilyn Monroe was even around! This, of course, dramatically increased peroxide sales and had women all over the country trying (many unsuccessfully) to bleach their hair!

”A straight shooter if there ever was one.” – Spencer Tracy

Although she lived to be only 26, Jean Harlow made an astonishing 36 movies in her lifetime, starring alongside actors like Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable. Known for her incredible flair for drama and her sparkling comedic wit, she was also the first movie actress ever to appear on the cover of Life Magazine.

Known as a leading symbol of femininity and sex appeal, Harlow never wore any underwear and always slept in the nude. She was also superstitious, wearing a lucky anklet on her left leg and always looking in her lucky dressing room mirror.

“She didn’t want to be famous. She wanted to be happy.” – Clark Gable

I’d say she did a bang-up job.
