Style File: The Golden Globes

The ladies of Hollywood had some haute moments on the Golden Globes red carpet last night and we can’t wait to show you our favorite looks of the evening.

Anne Hathaway and Lea Michele took textured whites to a new level with a peplum top and a stunning slit. Both ladies looked lovely in floor-length white and chose to let their dresses shine by keeping accessories at a minimum.

Emily Blunt looked ultra sleek and sophisticated in this gold Michael Kors gown that was accessorized with pink jewels for an added pop of color.

Adele looked super glam in a long black Burberry dress with an embellished collar while Kate Hudson chose an Alexander McQueen gown with decorative glitzy-gold accents and a sexy keyhole cutout.

Lucy Liu looked enchanting in a fishtail braid and a floral Carolina Herrera strapless gown with fitted bodice and a flowing skirt. She was a standout on the red carpet for sure!

Nude + Sparkle = Major Win for Kerry Washington and Isla Fisher. Both ladies kept their looks classic and timeless with a simple ‘do and matching silver sparkly accessories.

Jessica Alba is hands-down our pick for Best Dressed! She looked absolutely flawless in this pink Oscar de la Renta gown with Harry Winston jewels and a fun feathered clutch.

Old Hollywood glam seemed to be a look that a lot of stars were going for this year and we loved it! Deep side parts, hair pulled to the side and floor-length gowns were all over the red-carpet and we can’t wait to see what the Academy Awards bring for 2013.

Who are your picks for Best Dressed at the Golden Globes? We’d love to know!

Style File: The People's Choice Awards!

Celebrity, Fashion | 10 January 2013

We don’t know about you, but last night our eyes were glued to the People’s Choice Awards.
It’s always so exciting to see who wins, and of course, what they’re wearing!
We definitely noticed some fabulous trends, and here are our absolute favorites.

The hot trend this year? Brights brights brights!

Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect) was a pastel dream in a long, deep-v yellow dress, and Emma Watson (Perks of Being a Wallflower) was her fun, spunky self in a multi-colored mini, both daring and darling!

Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars) was perfect in print, in a strapless coral tea-length dress! And Chloë Moretz (Carrie) was bold and bright in a cute, neon yellow, floral number!

Our favorite bright of the night? Glee‘s Lea Michele! She was totally adorable in pink from head to toe. Lea’s embellished lace mini was definitely a scene stealer as she accepted her award for Favorite Comedic TV Actress!

Another trend of the night: neutrals!

Our two favorite Jennifer’s were both stunning in black. Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) was the People’s Choice for Best Actress, and our choice for most sparkling siren! Jennifer Aniston (Wanderlust) kept it fun and flirty in a leather mini, looking ageless!

Ashley Rickards (MTV’s Awkward) and Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theory, and the too-cute host) were total babes in blush pink! They made elegant look completely effortless!

Not only did Taylor Swift win a PCA for Favorite Country Artist, but she was DEFINITELY our winner for Best Dressed! Taylor simply slayed in a floor-length white gown, looking mature and demure with a smokey eye. Congrats, Taylor!

What were some of your hits (and misses?) from the People’s Choice Awards?

Favorite Flicks of 2012 - Part 1

Celebrity | 08 January 2013

by

Trolls. Time travel. Troubled teens and… Andy Samberg.
These are a few of my favorite things!
At least when it comes to the movies of twenty-twelve.
So, without further ado, my top five flicks from last year!

Perks of Being a Wallflower

Both impeccable casting and brilliant writing make this film adaptation of the popular book a must-see. Logan Lerman is captivating, Emma Watson forever charming, and Ezra Miller is downright hilarious. With real emotion for relevant topics, this movie is a breath of fresh film air.

The Hobbit

Dwarves and trolls and elves, oh my! The long-awaited “Hobbit” was quite the cinematic adventure that definitely leaves you wanting more (So it’s a good thing we’re in for two more sequels!). It’s easy to get lost in Middle-Earth; the story, the characters, the eyes of a couple of dreamy dwarves… Wait, what was I talking about again?

The Hunger Games

If you were as in love with the popular Suzanne Collins trilogy as I was, this movie did not disappoint. Another great book-to-film adaptation, “The Hunger Games,” while heartbreaking and hopeful, told a wonderful story of overcoming all odds, whether ever in your favor or dangerously against you. Katniss Everdeen gave new meaning to the phrase “girl power!”

Looper

JGL is awesome. Bruce Willis is also awesome. JGL as Bruce Willis… Freakin’. Awesome. Prepare to have your mind blown as “Looper” keeps you guessing until the very end. And even when the end comes, you may find yourself wondering… “Was young Bruce Willis really that hot?”

Celeste & Jesse Forever

Celeste and Jesse are an adorable couple, practically perfect, but even they are a bit dysfunctional. Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg create the quirkiest, cutest on-screen couple since Zooey and Joseph, Ross and Rachel, and Corey and Topanga. “Celeste & Jesse” is hilarious and heart-warming. It may not end how you’d expect, but it’s totally worth it.

Didn’t see your favorite movie of 2012 on this list? Well, just wait until next week… I just could not stop at five! Until then, what were some of last year’s top movies for you, fabulous film-goers?

Crush of the Week: An Unexpected Hottie

Celebrity | 02 January 2013

by

Every now and then, when the universe feels like being gracious, a truly beautiful man (er vampire… er dwarf?!) is sprung upon us.
And it’s often when we least expect it!
Case in point: Aidan Turner.

Age: 29
Born: June 19, 1983 in South Dublin, Ireland
Where you may know him: Currently starring as Kíli, a delectable dwarf in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Also played a vampiric babe with a taste for blood in the original British version of Being Human.
Upcoming: Aidan will star as Luke Garroway in the film adaptation of the popular young adult series The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Why We’re Crushin’: Aside from the obvious curly locks, pouty lips, and those eyes (Oh, those eyes!), this handsome Irishman has some serious acting chops. Whether he’s playing a tortured, brooding vampire or a cheerful resident of Middle-earth, he is both captivating, convincing, and utterly dreamy. We are more than thrilled that he is signed on for not one but two sequels to The Hobbit, because the big screen does Aidan Turner gooooood.

Penelope Cruz for Campari's 2013 Calendar

Celebrity, Fashion | 28 November 2012

by

Penelope Cruz is radiant (as always) in red for this gorgeous calendar shoot for Italian alcohol brand Campari, shot by photographer Kristian Schuller. The “Kiss Superstition Goodbye” theme places Ms. Cruz in various “unlucky” positions, laughing in the face of fable as she kneels down to say “hello” to a clowder of black cats, or tip-toes along a crack in the pavement. All the while she manages to spill not a drop of her cocktail. Now that’s a lady.

Scroll through for more of this splendid spread, and check out Fashion Gone Rogue for the full collection of photos.
