FashionMVP Trend of the Week: Metallic

If you gravitate toward anything of the shimmery persuasion, congrats: Fall 2017 is your season. Like velvet before them, metallics have transcended their regular holiday-centric role and made their way into the autumnal arena. Meaning, the time to shine is now.

From sequins to lamé to glitter and beyond, get ready to sparkle— and not just for evening, either. No, while the currently trending heavy metals do make for great date night fare, many of the offerings are equally OOTD-worthy for daytime, as well. Try pairing your pleated midi skirt with silver loafers or adding a gold slip dress under your menswear blazer to get your glitz on in a more subtle way. Whether you prefer to work a pair of sparkly earrings or a sequin top, the getting is good right now — just scroll on to shop this week’s MVP  trend ASAP.

FashionSteal Their Style: Homecoming Dresses

If you haven’t picked your homecoming dress, we’ve got you covered! Below, some of our Instagram besties show us how they would style their fave Lulus dresses for homecoming and other formal events. Get some inspiration and get shopping!

homecoming style - long sleeves

Long Sleeves

Chilly fall weather means long sleeve dresses are a must-have for casual and formal events. For homecoming, whether you go long or short, wearing a long sleeve style is a sure way to be cute and comfortable at the dance. Take your cue from twins Kenzie and Carol and Tess and Sarah and pick a dress with some of the season’s biggest trends like wrap dresses or bell sleeves. Also note how both these pairs chose long sleeve dresses that you can re-wear again and again – a major plus when picking out a homecoming dress.

Shades of Blue

From deep navy to the palest periwinkle, blue is a universally flattering color, making it an easy pick for your homecoming dress. Whether you are a beach babe or a city chick, this popular color is versatile enough to fit any style. Add dainty accessories to a flowing maxi for an ethereal vibe like Molly Hogan from Trendy Chickadee or add some kicks and statement earrings like Payton Sartain of Hustle + Halcyon for a street chic look.

homecoming style - sequins

A glam-gal favorite, sequins are a surefire way to capture everyone’s attention at the dance! Go for a patterned sequin dress like Emily Rose Hannon of @emilyrosehannon to get the full effect or add some glitz with your accessories like Deniz Selin from @lefashnmonster. Either way, extra sparkle is always in style!

homecoming style - barely there hues

Barely There Hues

Floaty formal dresses in blush, beige, cream and white are a dreamy way to inject some romantic style into your homecoming look. Play up the princess vibes like Jamie Kidd from @jamienkidd in a light peach maxi dress with lovely lace details and pearl accessories. Or go for a boho, Grecian-inspired look like Kelsey Floyd from @kelsrfloyd with lots of gold jewelry and an off-the-shoulder dress.

homecoming style - beyond basic black

Beyond Basic Black

It wouldn’t be a homecoming roundup without some picks for the best black dresses! An LBD is a solid go-to, but these pieces are bumped up with special style details! Get a little mod with O-ring hardware like Lauren Rhoden of @laurenrhoden or show off with sheer mesh details like Olia Majd from @oliamajd. Both of these LBDs show your look doesn’t have to be basic just because you wear black!

There were many,  I can’t think of a specific one! One of the craziest ones was years and years ago a cosmetics brand where they put fake boobies and butt on me and a crazy wig. It was really cool!

Can’t live without beauty product?

I love Dr. Sturm and Tatcha everything! My must haves are Dr. Sturm SPF 50 drops to protect your skin against sun damage. It’s so so sooooo important! Another good one is COOLA self tanner. I try not to tan because it ages you so much so it’s a good alternative since nobody likes to be pale.  My good friend and amazing makeup artist Misha Shazada recommend these products and I can’t live without them!

Describe your teenage style.

A mess.

What are your fave trends for fall?

I honestly don’t really follow many trends. I kind of wear whatever I feel like but I’m really into the 90s vibe lately.
