With sodas, energy drinks, and other sugar-laden beverages so easily accessible nowadays, it can be hard to stay healthy and hydrated in the summer. Beverages like coffee, sparkling water, and sodas actually dehydrate you, leaving your body even more parched than before. Fruit infused water is the perfect solution, for it not only offers healthy, low-calorie, on-the-go hydration, but is absolutely delicious too! Below you can find three fruit infused water recipes that we absolutely love that will keep you healthy, hydrated, and happy all summer long!

Directions:

Simply slice your fruit and herbs, place in a glass filled with ice, fill with water, and let everything infuse for at least an hour. If you want even more flavor you can muddle your fruit and herbs, or leave your mixture to infuse overnight. *Be sure to wash everything thoroughly before slicing!*

GeneralTop Tips for Being the Best Bridesmaid

Obviously you wouldn’t have been asked to be a bridesmaid if you hadn’t been a good friend in the first place! So here’s how to keep it going with our top tips for being the best bridesmaid!

TipsForBridesmaids2

1. Be there. Be there when you’re supposed to, be supportive, and don’t be a flake. The bride needs as much support as she can get right now. Meeting at the reception hall to discuss decorations? Be there. Bridal shower? Be there. Bachelorette party? Be there. Third meeting at the reception hall to discuss decorations? Don’t miss it! This is distance-permitting of course, but you can still offer plenty of support via email, text, and phone; let her send you as many wedding decor Pinterest links as her heart desires!

2. Don’t make it about you. Let’s be honest, it can be pretty fun having a wedding as an excuse to get to shop for a new dress, shoes, and accessories, as well as a perfect reason to get all dolled up and get your hair, nails, and makeup done. But in reality it’s important to remember that this day is not about you, it’s about the bride and groom. This day is only supposed to happen once (ideally), so even if you hate your dress, your hair, and the maid of honor, just suck it up, put a smile on your face, and make the most of it – for you and for her.

3. Lend an ear. Being a therapist and helping troubleshoot emotional crises (no matter how small) is part of the job! Whether it be an over-controlling mother-in-law or the fact that the makeup artist didn’t have the absolute perfect shade of eyeshadow to match her nails, make sure you’re there with tissues, hugs, and emotional support. Even if she’s not a total Bridezilla, she’ll still have plenty of things she needs to get off her chest because planning a wedding can be stressful!

4. Smile and nod. This is kind of a sequel to number three. You might be at your wits end with hearing about the details of the wedding. Who cares if the servers don’t have matching ties?! Your bride cares. It’s important to her. Even if you have other opinions, your bride really just wants blanket approval that everything she is doing is okay. Just remember to keep a smile on your face and be as supportive as you can!

5. Be proactive.  Maybe the bride hasn’t approached you asking to help with certain responsibilities. If she has, great! Follow through and help out with your assigned duties the best you can. If not, offer to help and take on a few small responsibilities. Trust us, it will lower her stress level tremendously! Even just offering to help her address and stuff her invitations or being in charge of her day-of “emergency” kit (tissues, lipstick, foundation, tampons, etc.), will make a world of difference.

6. Have fun. Not only for yourself, but for the bride too. There’s no better way to make her forget her pre-ceremonial jitters and all the stress of the big day by having a laugh and making her forget her worries. C’mon, how often do you get to go all out and indulge like this? Have a blast!
