NewsU.S vs. Slovenia!

   vs

I am not sure how many of you watch soccer, care for soccer, or even have ever played soccer BUT I think it’s super important to stay up to date (no matter what your excuse) on the world’s most popular sport (and my personal favorite). This is the year of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa so stay on your toes to see who is going to come out on top after 64 grueling matches between 32 amazing teams from around the world!

This morning the U.S. played Slovenia in a match worthy of catching anyone’s breath. Don’t worry, the game just finished and the United States came out with a 2-2 tie with Slovenia!  Sadly we did actually score a goal that had the game at 3-2 Landon Donovan of the U.S. team sent the ball forward which was then sent straight into the net by Maurice Edu to settle the score and make for one insanely close come back. The goal lasted for about 20 seconds before the referee called the shot and took back the goal.

Keep posted for more updates of the 2010 World Cup!

NewsSummer Must Read List!

Nothing like reading a good book while taking in the sun!  Here are my top 4 must reads for this summer!

#4. Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris

This is the latest in the Sookie Stackhouse novels (series which True Blood is based on).  My experience with these books has always been positive. They offer laughs, tears, and some steamy pages that you’ll burn right through. This installment follows the after math of the Faery War and some new drama with the new Vampire King. Sookie and Eric’s relationship may also be in jeopardy!

I know these books aren’t Shakespeare, but I can’t help it, I’m hooked!

#3. Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang by Chelsea Handler

She’s at it again! Chelsea Handler is not afraid to tell it all. The E! late night host reveals moments of her life including family moments, her love life, and new adventures in being a dog owner. If you’re in need of a good laugh, pick this book up and you’ll be cracking up instantly!

#2. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer

It’s the Twihard in me! This book goes into the details a Bree Tanner, one of the new borns in Victoria’s army from Eclipse. This is perfect for the Twihards who want to read about the darker side of the vampire world and what it’s like to be a new born (not everyone has it as easy as Bella). With a mixture of romance, adventure, and a behind the scenes look into Eclipse events ( and all in less then 200 pages), this is a perfect easy read.

#1. Eat, Pray Love

I’ve been told for three years that I need to read this book, but no one would tell me what it’s about. Then I saw the trailer for the movie (coming out in August) and then I finally understood. This book is about stepping out of your comfort zone and enjoying life to it’s fullest. Based on her real life travels, Elizabeth Gilbert leaves everything behind (career, house, and husband) and travels to Italy, India, and Indonesia to search for different pleasures in life and spirituality exploration.Truly inspiring and a must read for everyone!

What’s on your summer must read list?

NewsNew Guilty Pleasure: Jersey Shows!

First off, I know these shows do not depict the real New Jersey. And I acknowledge that people have been insulted and embarrassed by these shows.

With that said, I have to admit I can’t get enough of these New Jersey shows. Fist pumping, GTL (Gym, tan, and laundry), and hair poufs, these “guidos” and “guidettes” have established a place in television history.

(Cast of Jersey Shore)

MTV first noticed the popularity of the garden state back in 2003 when they did an episode of True Life: I have a Summer Share which featured twenty somethings living on seaside for the summer. This episode became one their most popular, which led to True Life: I have a Summer Share 2, True Life: I’m a Jersey Girl, and then to the ever so controversial Jersey Shore in 2009. This show created so much negative buzz, it actually caused ratings to boost, making Jersey Shore one of MTV’s most popular/watched shows (Season 2 coming July 29th!).

(Cast of Jerseylicious and Jersey Couture)

Thanks to their success, shows like Jerseylicious on Style Network and the new Jersey Couture from Oxygen are popping up. These shows might not last past next year or Jersey Shore might become MTV’s new Real World. With characters like “The Situation” and “Snooki”, all I can say is I’ll be there on my couch watching the insanity ensue.

NewsElisabeth Moss in “Get Him to the Greek!”

Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss, looked stunning at the L.A. premiere of her new film Get Him to the Greek. Here she is with Mad Men co-stars John Slattery and John Hamm, with girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt.

Moss will be playing the role of Daphne Binks, graduating med student and girlfriend to co-star Jonah Hill. I love Moss in Mad Men and can’t wait to see her on the big screen! Make a date to see Get Him to the Greek which releases this Friday, June 4th!
