Now, I know it’s been two weeks since American Idol contestant, Naima Adedapo, was voted off in a rare double elimination, but I can’t stop thinking about her.
The first time I saw Naima she had just finished singing her version of “Summertime” in this amazing saffron frock that she designed herself.
What I really appreciate about her is her bold moves and her genuine style. While many contestants seemed to have their styles molded for them throughout the show, Naima stepped in all ready to go.
I was floored when I saw Naima mix up Rhianna’s version of “Umbrella” with a bit of reggae and some shockingly good dance steps. In an even braver move, this Caribbean mistress covered Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing” and (in my humble opinion) perfectly transitioned it into the stuff that summer festivals are made of. With the strong artistic roots attached to many of this season’s contenders, I was sorry to see this one leave so soon.
If you share my love for the funky and soulful songstress, then I’m sure you will be happy to know that she is still included in the Top 11 Tour. Check out what she has to say about it in this heartfelt interview!
Well, it’s Thursday night again, and somebody else is going home. Will it be your favorite?
