creating a healthy morning routine to get back in business for fall

Whether you’re heading back-to-school, starting a new job, or you just want a fresh start, we’ve scoured the massive amounts of info out there to find the best, most practical, healthy morning routine tips to fully live up to your boss babe potential! Whether you take one and incorporate it slowly, or kick start your days by trying them all at once, we hope you’ll find something useful to add some structure to your morning!

Start the Night Before: The best way to set yourself up for a stress free morning is to start the night before! Pick up the house, wipe down countertops, do any dishes in the sink, and complete any other little tasks you might have so you don’t have a reminder of things you need to do when you get home, and you start the day in a clean space. Pack your lunch ahead too! This article from Eating Well has some great, easy and inexpensive meal prep ideas that will set you up for the whole work week. And, of course, lay out your outfit for the next day. We all know there is nothing more stressful than trying to find an item you want to wear when you’re running late. Maybe even try it on the night before, so you know you’ll feel comfortable and confident the next day!

Meditation: It seems like one thing all successful women have in common is meditation. It can seem silly or difficult if you’re unfamiliar with the practice, but we urge you to take just five minutes in the morning to be still and focus on your breathing for a more relaxed and positive day. You can even do it sitting on the side of your bed, right when you wake up! This article from Self Magazine gives you tips from one woman’s journey on how to start your day the chill way!

Exercise: Ok, you knew this one was coming, but we have to say it, waking up and working up a sweat, whether it be through yoga, a cardio class, or a weight training session, is a great way to boost your mood and get you started on the right foot. We know it can be tough getting motivated first thing in the morning, but we say give it a shot for a week, and see if your mood changes. You got this!

Breakfast: Whether you prep overnight oats, make some trendy avocado toast, or start your day with the classic eggs and bacon, having something to nourish your body at the start of your day can help you feel your best and set you up for success for the rest of the day. Eating a healthy breakfast also makes sense as a logical next step in your healthy morning routine after a workout to refuel. If you aren’t used to preparing food in the morning, here is a simple overnight oats recipe from Women’s Health to get you started on the right foot (the night before!) – we can’t wait to try it as part of our new daily routine!
