Every morning, I wake up and embrace the day with a hot and steaming cup of coffee.

Although I would not consider myself even remotely informed about good and bad coffee, I do know how to tell when I drink an AMAZING cup of it! For an AMAZING cup of coffee I get a huge grin on my face that lasts most of the day and that = a tell tale sign of AMAZING coffee.

And that’s exactly what happened when I drove down the Northern California Coast to Santa Cruz to try out VERVE coffee. I was thoroughly impressed with the coffee as well as the mission statement of the cafe:

“It’s important to us to forge genuine connections to place: Our beachfront neighborhood, where roasting and cupping have joined surfing as daily communal rituals.”

Verve Coffee was in GQ this month for the top ten best coffee places in America! GQ describes the cafe as “famous for its Streetlevel espresso, a burly seasonal blend that recently packed Brazilian beans for muscle and El Salvadoran for spice. A single shot delivers a jolting twenty-five grams of coffee, which might explain why so many surfers and Silicon Valley creative types are in line for it at 6 a.m.”
