BeautyLuLu*s How-To: Party Perfect Waves Tutorial

You don’t have to be a professional stylist to get party perfect waves, in fact all you need are just a few simple styling tools that you probably already have at home! Our tutorial below will show you step-by-step how to get soft and glamorous curls just in time for that upcoming holiday bash!

Party Perfect

1. Begin by curling small sections of your hair towards the front.
2. Set the curl by carefully pinning underneath.
3. Continue curling small sections forward and pin.
4. Repeat curls and pins on the other side of your part.
5. Generously apply hairspray to all the set curls.
6. After the hair is completely cool, slowly remove all pins.
7. Use your fingers to separate the ringlets and carefully comb all the curls.

FashionLuLu*s and Dallas Shaw Get Party Perfect!

Combining the love of all things fashionable and fabulous, and the dream of creating her very own thriving business, fashion illustrator and style expert extraordinaire, Dallas Shaw, has become quite the entrepreneurial icon! Here at LuLu*s we live for fashion, and were instantly drawn to Dallas’ innate sense of the contemporary fashion-smart woman. Her magical illustrations truly transcend the page and have caught the coveted attention of fashion’s finest: Ralph Lauren, Chanel and Donna Karan to name a few! In the spirit of the holidays and embracing everything #luluspartyperfect, we reached out to Ms Shaw to get our hands on one of her amazing, custom illustrations — can you say chic?! We were also anxious to know what has been on Dallas’ radar this season, from wardrobe essentials, her favorite mani looks, to New Year’s resolutions and more! Check out the exclusive interview below!

What motivated you to start your own business?

I was drawing for Disney and decided I wanted to work in fashion, so I combined my art and fashion and brought it all online.

What are three items you couldn’t leave home without?

Phone/camera/lifeline, planner, and black aviators.

What are the most beloved pieces in your wardrobe?

Vintage Chanel bags that I’ve been collecting from Rice and Beans Vintage, my grandmother’s necklace (that she gave me for my wedding before she passed away), and distressed denim.

What are a few staples that every girl should have in her closet?

Nude pointy toe heels, Chanel red lipstick, leather jacket, collection of white tees, trench coat, and a good watch.

What are some of your favorite trends at the moment?

Well it’s holiday, so jewel tones, embellishments, and metallics.

You are always donning a chic mani, what is your go-to look as of late?

Super minimalistic with nudes or blacks (or both). I’m really into shapes right now, but it might be something new next week, (stay tuned)!

What LuLu*s pieces would you style for a holiday, party-ready look?

The Lovers + Friends My Way Burgundy Jumpsuit, Luichiny Be Dazzled Gold Glitter and Lucite Floating Bow Heels, Pearl-fectionist Layered Pearl Necklace, You’re Two Kind Gold Ring, and the Claim to Femme Blush Pink Purse, topped off with a burgundy lip!

What is your go-to holiday cocktail?

I’m a Bellini girl!

What is on your holiday wishlist this year?

A Fujifilm INSTAX Share Printer (that prints pictures from your iPhone instantly), jewelry,  and an Exhale Spa and Soul Cycle membership (still trying to get motivated to hit the gym)!

How do you hope to ring in the New Year? Any resolutions?

I really hope to ring it in with my husband, Harold, in NYC; I rarely get to see him because of my job.  My resolution is to spend more time with my family, to work out more frequently, and to focus on technology.

CelebrityHilary Duff for Elle Canada December 2014

Hilary Duff is back, ladies and gents, and looking more fabulous than ever. She’s got a new album on the horizon, a TV show in the works, and she’s pretty much mother of the year! The former Disney star, our beloved Lizzie McGuire, opened up about motherhood (her son is just too cute), marriage, and that awkward Aaron Carter statement in the December issue of Elle Canada, and we were so taken by her maturity and honesty. Wearing furs and sequins, too-die-for thigh-high boots, and that fabulously-feathered hat, Duff is demure and stunning. If you didn’t love her before, well, you definitely do now.
