FashionMaking a List, Checking it Twice!

Hey Lulu*s fans, the holidays have finally arrived, and all of us here at LuLu*s central are rivaling the productivity of the North Pole, busily working to make sure you have plenty of cute gifts to both give and get this season!

Our jewelry selection is growing each day, and I’m loving the assortment of pocket watch necklaces and lockets to be had. They make the perfect stocking stuffers. Not to mention all the cozy hats, arm warmers and scarves that any girl would love and appreciate on a frosty day.

Just so Santa gets the hint, I’m making my list early this year. Here are my holiday must-haves (so far, anyway):

The Tattler Owl Pocket Watch Necklace [sold out!] was love at first hoot!

Our has Let it Snow Scarf [sold out!] has been selling like wildfire, and no wonder! This thing is so darn soft and lovely. I love the dark grey color here. Perfect for a winter day.

Ok, ok, so it’s a little much for a stocking stuffer, but our All the Trimmings Dress in Green [sold out!] will be perfect for that next holiday party.

What’s on your list this year?

FashionLadies We Love: Zooey Deschanel

Women everywhere may find themselves developing an unavoidable girl-crush on actress and singer Zooey Deschanel. Maybe it’s her curious blue eyes, quirky sense of humor, or her unique and individual style, but not only is Zooey a star women love to love, but a style icon of her own making.

Zooey’s style doesn’t seem to follow any specific fashion trend but that of her own whim. It manages to be at once playfully tomboy and feminine all at the same time. Zooey never shies away from wearing girly accessories, sporting a bow or flower in her hair and pulling it off effortlessly without looking too dainty. The difference is having confidence and a sense of adventure when it comes to putting together an outfit.

To get her look, experiment with flashes of bold color by tying a piece of bright red or blue ribbon in your hair. Don a vintage-inspired locket or statement hat. Balance the color and flair with subtle touches elsewhere, and don’t be afraid to stand out.

Perhaps what’s most essential to Zooey’s style is a wink and a smile. You can just tell she’s having fun and loving life. Now that’s a fashion trend to follow. :)

LULU*S PICKS

NewsEarrrrrrrings Galore!

My first day at Lulus.com, a few months ago, I kept noticing all the girls wearing these rad gold painted leather feather earrings. Funny thing is, I was too shy to ask them where they got them.

I finally got the answer to my earrings question when I was given a new style leather fringe earring to describe and put up online (the Out of Sight Fringe Earrings). I found out that the wonderful earrings, which remind me of some kind of urban warrior woman, are made by Claire Fong of Chico, California. Chico is where LuLu*s was born and is still located. How sweet is that?!

Soooo, then the other night, I was hanging out with my cousin, Kyle Delmar, who is also a local photographer, and who showed up but Claire Fong! I got to see her in action and snapped this picture while she was making the most recent shipment of Sequoyah Double Feather Earrings and Tiger Lily Earrings for Lulus.com.

I was talking to them for a little bit when I realized that Claire also makes these really cool oversized bows to wear in your hair and bow earrings (which she is wearing in this picture). They reminded me instantly of the trend pictures that Kristin Knauff sent me from L.A. and that I used in a blog last week. My cousin recently shot some of Claire’s accessories and this is my favorite picture of her work yet. Here the model is wearing one of Claire‘s bows and the Out of Sight Fringe Earrings.

How much fun is that?! Accessories to really, actually brighten your day!

FashionGlee Your Style

A new fashionista is making her way to Wednesday nights on Glee! Actress Jayma Mays plays Emma Pillsburry, the guidance counselor on Fox’s new series Glee. We couldn’t help but gush about her character’s adorable style, which is a combination of vintage, prep and a little whimsy.

On a school day, you’ll usually find Emma sporting a feminine blouse, colorful cardigan, high waist skirt and an eye-catching accessory. This combined with her impeccably styled red hair and charming personality has made her a fashion favorite, winning the hearts of vintage-lovers everywhere.

Steal her style with similar items [sold out!] here at LuLu*s! Here’s what I think Emma would be eyeing on our website after a day with the Glee Club:
