Style File: The 2013 Grammy's!

Celebrity, Fashion, Music | 11 February 2013

by

The 2013 Grammy’s had some great moments; LL hosted, JT is officially back (and looking better than ever, I might add), and Prince showed up with an entirely diamond-encrusted cane.
And among all the Grammy Award winners and show-stopping performances, there were some fabulous fashion finds.
Here are some of our stand-outs from the night, including some risk-takers and rule-breakers!

Red Done Right: Rihanna and Natasha Bedingfield put the red carpet to shame in crimson, floor-length gowns, completing their look with subtle make-up, and loose waves.

Babes in Black: Whether dressed up or barely dressed at all, these two divas always look fab. Beyonce kept it cool & trendy in a color block suit, meanwhile, J. Lo left little to the imagination in Anthony Vaccarello.

Southern Show-Stopper: Along with an amazing performance, Carrie Underwood simply slayed in Roberto Cavalli! We couldn’t take our eyes off the intricate bodice and Carrie’s sultry look.

Pretty in Prints: The always adorable Adele ditched the dark and went for a bold patterned dress, and Alexa Chung was the picture of perfection in Valentino.

Brilliant Bodices: Kelly Rowland looked sexy in strategic cut-outs, and Allison Williams hung up her preppy ‘Girls’ digs for a beautiful beaded gown.

And the Winner Is…: Taylor Swift looked almost reminiscent of a Grecian goddess in a mythical J. Mendel gown that was simply unmatched. Taylor has looked nothing shy of phenomenal as of late, and we can’t wait to see what she shows up in next!

Alright, fashionistas, who do you think was a red carpet cutie, and who hit the wrong note?

Alexa Chung's 24 Hour Catwalk Series Premiere

News | 10 January 2012

by

So, did you hear that Alexa Chung has a new show? And this time it’s all about fashion?? Yes!!!! 24 Hour Catwalk premieres tonight (Tuesday, January 10th @ 10/9c), and let me just tell you why my DVR is set to record.

Yeah, it’s kind of another Project Runway (which just premiered an “All-Star” season), but trade Heidi for Alexa, and trade Michael Kors & Co for designer Cynthia Rowley, fashion editor Derek Blasberg (New York Times best-selling author, Editor at Large for US Harper’s Bazaar, and Senior Editor of V, and VMan) and publicist James LaForce, (a “highly-regarded media and communications consultant”). Alright, I’m on board.

Now, instead of a whole cast and a whole season, we get four new designers per episode (slashed to two after a “first cut” elimination challenge), who have 24 hours (a-ha!) to complete a full runway collection. The prize: $10,000. Not bad. Also, the designers are provided with a “talented and opinionated” sewing team to help them make it to the finish line. Cue the drama. Add in some mystery trunks, and we’ve got a healthy blend of everything I love to see in my reality TV queue.

Oh, sneak peek? Don’t mind if I do…

Afraid you’re going to miss it? Worry not! You can watch the first full episode here. And for future reference, watch Tuesdays at 10/9c on Lifetime. Now here’s hoping Alexa makes a ton of wardrobe changes…

Alexa Chung on the Cover of British Vogue!

Beauty | 09 May 2011

by

Trendsetter Alexa Chung graces the cover of British Vogue for the June 2011 issue looking as beautiful as ever! With soft bangs and a tousled wave, her chic bob is picture perfect.
Alexa has been a hair icon for years and has been setting trends since she arrived on the scene! Check out some of my favorite hair looks from years past.

Similar to the Vogue cover, look this soft and feminine bob is the perfect length for Alexa’s face shape. The caramel hue makes her eyes look even more blue!

Alexa had a heads up on the ombre trend back in 2009. With dark roots and a lighter tone on the tips, Alexa was one of  the first to make this hairstyle sensation a hit!

Fixing the bangs into a chic side braid is the perfect way to get your hair out of your face while changing up the style. Keep it loose and tousled for a soft and easy look.

What do you think of Alexa’s styles? Which one is your favorite?

Style Trend: Ombré Hair

Beauty | 10 January 2011

by

Ombré hair…does it really need an introduction? This style has come to the forefront of hair trends in the past couple months, and I won’t lie, I love it. I even succumbed to this trend myself.

Rocked by Erin Wasson for years, and delivered to us with a more edgy style by Alexa Chung and blogger Rumi Neely, this is the it hair trend of the season. This low maintenance, effortlessness of this hair stye works with basically any texture or tone and it’s highly economical to boot.

Celebrities such as Drew Barrymore, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Lily Alridge, Rachel Bilson, and Sarah Jessica Parker have been seen rocking the brown-blonde version of this trend, however the more colorful version of the trend can be seen by platinum blondes transitioning to a variety of colors.

What do you think of the ombré trend? Would you try it, or do you think it looks like bad outgrowth? And for giggles, here is a picture of me with my ombre hair.

Did you see these?
