Congratulations Brittani, America's Next Top Model!
After one of the craziest seasons yet, ANTM has crowned another winner: 19-year-old Brittani Kline from Beech Creek, Pennsylvania.
I have to admit, I can’t get enough of this show. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but I’ve managed to sit on the edge of my seat for every photo shoot, every elimination, every episode, every season. After sixteen cycles of virtually the same thing over and over, I don’t need Tyra’s little speech (“So-and-so many beautiful girls stand in front of me, but I only have this many photos in my hand…”) because I can recite it word-for-word, and I’m pretty sure I can’t be the only one out there.

But somehow, I’m still hooked. And this season did not disappoint! Flaming hands on the runway, hamster balls on water (hilarious!), bees as accessories, baby jaguars, stinky landfills, camels, and burning candles balanced on top of their heads…they sure weren’t pulling any punches for these girls. There were times when I wondered if the producers weren’t pushing it a little too far; I mean, was it really necessary to set the poor girls on fire and cover them in bees?? Nonetheless, this season has been one of my all-time favorites.
For the first time, I wasn’t sure who to root for when it came down to the final three, let alone the final two! Equally beautiful in photographs and struttin’ it on the runway, the judges had a tough decision on their hands this time around.
As ornery as she was, I couldn’t help but cheer for runner-up Molly O’Connell. Call me crazy, but I found her grumpiness kind of endearing, and at times, a little funny. Haven’t we all had our share of stinker-y meltdowns?
But here lies the dilemma: whenever Molly was on the screen, I rooted for her. Whenever it was Brittani, I wanted her to win. For once, I knew I’d be thrilled for whoever took home the prize. And in the end, I have to say, they picked the right girl.
Very down-to-earth and just plain likable, I picked Brittani as one of my favorites early on. Though the blow-up with cycle villain Alexandria threw her off her game a little, Brittani got it together and managed to pull off a well-deserved victory in the final showdown. It’s great to see a regular girl from a small-town trailer park be awarded such a huge opportunity, which is perhaps why I can’t stop tuning in.
And I have no intention of trying, especially since the next cycle, according to CW’s website, is bringing back “an all-star cast of fan favorites and outrageous characters” from past seasons. Yes, please.
