Coachella may be said and done, but the music festivals are still in full force! Among the usual suspects, there’s a spectacular newbie festival that just has to be talked about. Bottle Rock holds a special place in the hearts of the LuLu*s crew, as it takes place right in NorCal, in the beautiful Napa Valley! While this fabulous festie may be new to the scene, it packs a punch of killer artists that we never thought we’d see in the same place! This week, we spotlight some of the acts we just can’t wait to see at Bottle Rock!

Pattern and Peach Fuzz: French Illustrator Elodie

Our favorite illustrators? The ones who are obsessed with fashion like French illustrator Elodie Nadreau!

Known simply as Elodie, this “Parisienne” has rolled her love for fashion and talent for digitally-embellished drawings into one perfect little package of color, texture, and flirtatious line-work. Elodie’s work emits a soft and sensual ambiance with subtle layers of pattern often weaving in and out of the main subject. Favoring female portraiture Elodie is inspired by what’s happening on the runways and magazines, and I love how she imparts a stippled peach-fuzz effect over much of her work, giving the pieces a warm, almost buzzing quality.

From whimsical renditions of classic stories, to Banksy-inspired plates, Red captures it all using food as her medium. It is clear that a tremendous amount of imagination and attention to detail go into each piece, combining food and art in a way that is mouth-watering and magical. Red doesn’t just see everyday objects as they are, she sees the extraordinary things that they could be, and the resulting food art is simply stunning! Brazilian-born Camilla do Rosario is a young fashion illustrator extraordinaire making waves in the design world, regardless of the fact the she is only in her early twenties! Her colorless line work melts seamlessly into a modern color palette with tribal tendencies, and not only is she a master of drawing and painting, but this South American phenom has a careful eye for collage as well. Her sketchblog on Tumblr is enough to make you dig out your pad and get drawing, but her portfolio features even more of the polished pieces seen below!

Deep Sea Gallery by Andreas Franke

If you’d like to see Austrian photographer Andreas Franke‘s latest exhibit, you’re going to need to invest in some new equipment, because the Stavronikita Project: The Life Above Refined Below, is quite far below, indeed. Images of Rococo decadence are set amongst the decaying wreckage of the SS Stavronikita, and the only place you can see it is 80 ft below the surface of the ocean, off the coast of Barbados, aboard the shipwreck itself. As you might imagine, the gallery is set up with a little help from plexiglass, silicone, a steel frame, and super strong magnets. So, scuba fans, grab your gear, because you can still catch it through April 2013!

With feminine line work that is both intricate and obsessive, Eveline masterfully lays down floating mounds of hair, Rorschach-like patterns, and stunning interpretations of textiles.

Different Strokes with Artist Jacqui Oakley

This gorgeous rendering of Dior Couture opened the door for me unto the prolific workings of Canadian illustrator Jacqui Oakley. Published in a long list of books and magazines, Jacqui’s work pairs inky brushstrokes with explosive color combos, and sensual contours.

Her website is also one of the most fun I’ve seen, with dozens of colorful thumbnails that reveal full shots of the work and plenty of in-process photos for some serious behind-the-scenes gratification.
