FashionLulus at The Texas Style Council Conference: Day 2

Time for our coverage of the TxSCC Day 2! On Sunday of our amazing weekend was the Social Media and Style Symposium held at beautiful Ballet Austin. This conference brought industry leaders in blogging, social media, and brands together on speaking panels to give bloggers helpful information on how to work with companies, achieve an authentic voice, how to create a community, and so much more!

As I said in my wrap-up of Day 1, part of the thrill of this conference was hearing accomplished and admired bloggers speak about their experiences. We were all very excited to hear Keynote speaker Jennine Jacob of The Coveted and IFB fame speak about the importance of social media and how to make the most of your blogging experience. Jennine has an amazing blog and was the founder of the Independant Fashion Bloggers (IFB), a place for bloggers to connect on how to blog successfully. She is a super interesting lady and a dynamic speaker.

Alessandra and I (second from left and far left, respectively) were lucky enough to speak on the Going Pro panel! In the company of talented women such as Elisa from Blogher, Grechen from Grechen’s Closet (also an organizer of the conference), and Patty of Charming Charlie, we were honored by the opportunity. Moderated by our lovely friend Jen from Jen Loves Ken, we answered questions about how bloggers can get sponsored, what we look for in a blog, and other affiliate questions.

Other panels included topics such as Careers and Longevity. Above we have our Careers panel, which was moderated by our friend Amy of Punky Style! She did a great job, despite admitting to being more nervous about speaking after the amazing Kelly of The Glamourai came to the conference for a suprise visit and guest-spoke on the panel. I assured Amy that no one was more nervous than me; public speaking is super scary! All in all everyone did an amazing job, and we were very lucky to hear the wise words of so many talented ladies and gentlemen.

Above we have Punky and Kelly posing for a quick shot!

Speaking on Authenticity we have (left to right, seated) Jen from Jen Loves Kev, Indiana from Adored Austin, and James from Bleu Bird Vintage. This panel, moderated by the lovely Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly, was so interesting because it was all about how to achieve your own “voice” and set yourself apart in a world with so many bloggers and sites. These three talented ladies are especially good at writing in a way that makes their blog something to remember. It’s almost as if their words are leaping off the page in their own voices.

Above we have Katy from Kansas Couture! I love her lace skirt paired with neutrals, really spring and on trend! Katy added our Steve Madden Propperr Taupe Heels to finish the look. The bows add the perfect lady-like touch!

James from Bleu Bird Vintage (above) has some of my favorite styles! I love how she mixes vintage eras for a look that is completely her own. She is always super cute with out looking like she tried to hard, and that as we all know, is no easy task. James is wearing a pair of shoes from Lulus that I was obsessing over forever, the Jeffrey Campbell Duoma’s, sadly now sold out. I really hope they come back soon!

Here is James with her adorable family. Those are probably the best-dressed kiddos I have seen in quite some time! I love how baby Gemma is saying “Hi!” to the camera!

We wrapped up the weekend partying with Etsy and Burdastyle in Downtown Austin! Tons of fun and dancing! It was a wonderful weekend with so many talented people. Thanks again to the TxSCC for having us! Can’t wait for next year!

FashionLulus at The Texas Style Council Conference: Day 1

Here at Lulus, we had the wonderful experience of taking part in a weekend full of fashion, friends, and food in the beautiful city of Austin, Texas! Attending and sponsoring the Texas Style Council Conference allowed us to meet new bloggers, finally meet some of the talented bloggers we already work with, and give away some serious Lulus swag! The Texas Style Council Conference (TxSCC) was a fabulous weekend with many events including a Clothing Swap hosted by and The Swapaholics, a Scavenger Hunt, a Dance Party and a Style and Social Media Symposium.

At the Dance Party, held at the stunning Bo Concept showroom in Austin, sponsors and brands setup shops, allowing guests to browse unique items such as vintage and new clothing, accessories, and more! We were able to create a Lulus Lounge, where attendees could come and chill, spin our prize wheel, and take a photo or two! We met so many wonderful people and had a blast giving away gift cards and cute jewelry.

Bloggers signed in to our guest book and picked up a flyer outlining a way to win a $500 shopping spree to!

Excited faces lit up the room while spining the prize wheel! Everyone was hoping for the $100 gift cards!

Two of my favorite ladies! Above we have the beautiful Kendi of the beloved blog, Kendi Everyday! Below, we have the lovely Jen from the oh-so-popular blog Jen Loves Kev! These two ladies couldn’t be more charming and sweet in real life. It is so fun to make “internet” friends and be even more delighted by their shiny personalities and presence!

I love this face! Everyone had so much fun at this event!

After spinning the wheel, some winners had the luck of getting to choose a piece of jewelry from our table! We had everything from Claire Fong earrings and cute-as-a-button bowtie necklaces to bangles and glittering tarantula bracelets (a suprising fan favorite!).

Just two of my new favorite people in the world, Melissa and Amy from The Swapaholics (far left and center-left). These two creative cuties get to jet set around and host swaps around the country as the official event hostesses for! Sounds like a dream job! Alessandra and I (center-right and far right) were lucky enough to get some hang out time with this adorable duo and snap a few pics while we were at it!

Jen is looking happy as a clam hanging out with another favorite blogger of mine, the lovely Katy of Kansas Couture! I love the color of Jen’s shoes along side the vibrant coral shade of Katy’s dress. Looking peachy in our Queen of Anything Coral Dress, Katy knows that spring is all about the brights! All in all, the dance party was a great time spent one-on-one with both known and up-and-coming bloggers. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday than dancing the night away with creative people in a city as beautiful as Austin!

But of course we made time for some authentic southern BBQ! Nothing beats Texas BBQ and the trip would be incomplete without it!

For more coverage of TxSCC, check back for my next post covering the conference panels and more style shots!

FashionBlogger Spotlight: Leandra of The Man Repeller

When looking at you and commenting on your style, has anyone ever used any of the following words:
Have no fear, there is now a blogger shedding light on the brillance of your fashion expression. Here to rescue us all from the pressures of dressing in a way some could call sexy or attractive we have:
What is a Man Repeller, you say?  Here is the definition found on Leandra’s blog:
outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments  include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.
In this hilariously written blog, Leandra talks about all the different trends she embraces that seem to repel men and keep them at a distance. Examples include: harem pants, shoulder pads, jumpsuits, excessive jewlery, and socks paired with sandals.
Assuming that men often find things tight and simple to be the most attractive way of dressing, and having an affinity for layering both patterns and fabrics, Leandra’s style may be seen as kooky to some. The fact is her style is reverred by designers and fashion critics alike and has recieved lots of postive press around her humorous style of writing and lighthearted approach towards fashion. Featured in Lucky Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle Girl, and more, Leandra has quickly become one to watch in her short time blogging.
Above, Leandra takes a dress that she recognizes as a tried and true “man-getter” and through several addition turns it into a verified “man-repeller.” Priceless!
Socks with sandals? Turban and nerd glasses? Yes, oh yes! This isn’t even quirky folks; this is a perfect example of how to wear high-end trends with out looking like you are trying too hard or like you don’t have a mind of your own. Personally, I commend Leandra; she is my new fashion icon and someone that I will be watching in the months and seasons to come.
Make sure to check out Leandra’s blog and next time you are headed out, throw on a fur vest (or several!) and a pair of  socks with those sandals and commend yourself for being a fellow “Man Repeller”!

FashionOur Favorite Bloggers at New York Fashion Week

Here at Lulus, we get the privilege of working with some super talented and accomplished fashion bloggers. Both stylish and sweet, these ladies are always a pleasure to work with. Finally, fashion blogging is seen as a real force to be reckoned with, influencing trends all over the world. As a result, we have seen increased involvement from the trendsetters behind our favorite blogs. Some of the special ladies we work with attended New York Fashion Week this year, and I was able to find some awesome shots of them having a blast in the Big Apple!

Above left we have the gorgeous Taylor from Sterling Style giving a loving squeeze to Kim from Eat Sleep Wear. Both of these blonde beauties have a style all their own.

Getting in a group shot with Joan Rivers?! Only in New York, I suppose! Above left we have the charming Christina of Trop Rouge, who just so happens to have my favorite hair in the entire blogosphere! The other half of the “Joan Rivers sandwich” is Taylor, again from Sterling Style.

Looking very “Sex and the City,” Taylor and friends strut around the big city!

Introducing two more lovely bloggers whom we so adore, Julie from Orchid Grey and Jennifer from Jen Loves Kev (left to right). I am in love with this picture, particularly Julie’s pants and Jennifer’s perfect dress! Although I haven’t worked with her yet, I have to give a shout out to Punky (far right). I have been a long time follower of her adventures via her blog, Punky Style. This vintage lover leaves all who read her blog thinking, “Man, I gotta do something cool with my life!” Definitely check out all three of these talented ladies!

One of the first talented ladies we had the privilege of working with was Rebecca of The Clothes Horse. I am in love with her style, feminine with a touch of whimsy, as seen above in her superb taste in headbands! She has truly developed her style, allowing in new pieces and trends but always looking “very Rebecca.” Her blog is a must-read for those of you looking to build a blog roll.

Once again we have Jen from Jen Loves Kev! I had to feature this amazing dress on its own! I am in love with the vintage floral pattern.  Along with having amazing style, Jen posts recipes and what it’s like parenting a young baby! For all of you new mommies out there, Jen’s chronicle of her beautiful daughter Rowan’s growth is something to smile over.

Above we have the beautiful Aimee of Song of Style! She has an amazing modern and edgy style. Not to mention, her hair is always perfect! Her blog is definitely one of my personal faves; check her out and you will be hooked as well. I found this picture perusing the internet on

Here we have Krystal from This Time Tomorrow. I love her! She always looks like she is about to giggle, and in this picture, I think she really is! Rocking a perfect pairing of chambray shirt and white fur coat, she is on trend and looking super cute! In her writing, she comes across as some one that you could just become friends with in an instant! Read her blog to find out the funny story of what happened to these gorgeous shoes she has on.

Oh my favorite, Keiko Lynn! The ultimate, stylish girly-girl with perfect hair and makeup and the all-time cutest dog! This amazing designer/blogger has the sweetest style and personality to match. Everyone loves Keiko and if you head over to her blog, I am sure you will fall in love too! I found this picture in an article covering street style at NYFW on

Thanks to these lovely ladies for many great posts and pictures! Make sure to check them out!

FashionFeatured Blogger: Arushi of Bohemian Like You!

Happy Wednesday! If you are searching for some inspiration this weekday morning, then look no further! I was lucky enough to be introduced to the blog, Bohemian Like You, and have been delighted with the fashion musings of the beautiful Arushi! This bright, young enthusiast is only 15 and writing from far away India! How we wish we could attend fun and fashionable events in no other than New Delhi! Check out some of my favorite pics from her blog.

Arushi really knows how to approach fashion in a modern and fresh way. Her signature slouchy look is kept tailored with architectural high heels and sharp cut blazers. She wears a lot of black keeping her look serious and chic.
