I want to introduce you to one of my favorite up-and-coming models: Frida Gustavsson. This 17-year-old, 5’11” Stockholm native is a self-proclaimed geek, but is a natural on both the runway and on film. In January, she walked for Valentino, Armani Privé, Elie Saab, Christian Dior, and Chanel in spring couture shows in Paris.
Frida is not only a force on the runway, but also off. Below are some example of her laid back, but chic, style.

As the scrims rolled up and revealed the Chanel girls on an iceberg in the center of the Grand Palais in Paris I can only imagine the sound of gasps echoing throughout the building. In a dream, Karl Lagerfeld envisioned his Fall 2010 collection shown on models walking through melting ice caps and, as if in a dream, the spectators in Paris watched as ice caps melted around a brilliant collection of clothes.
Karl Lagerfeld has put his Chanel snow bunnies smack dab in the middle of of the global warming conversation. Literally, as the models were walking through the ice caps they were melting and water was collecting on the cat walk. As they walked through the water getting their faux fur boots (yes I did say faux) wetter and wetter.
This is a very blatant reminder that yes things are heating up and melting away. In the meantime dressing for warmth couldn’t get more fun than these chunky layered furlicious outfits. As for innovation, Lagerfeld took knitwear to a new level, especially in the last white tulle chiffon knit gowns.
Celebrate summer with a little retro flair, sporting one of the most classic and glamorous prints of all times: stripes!
Stripes are effortless and chic. From Chanel to beach bunny, you can pull off this look with just the right pair of shades and that perfect little summer tote.
My new favorite way to sport the trend is with this old black and white turtle neck I found at a thrift shop. I cut out the neck and now sport it as an off-the-shoulder top with some red lipstick, skinny jeans and black ballet flats.
The possibilities with stripes are endless. Oversized, boat-necked, an easy breezy tank or that perfect striped sunhat – pick your favorite and you’ll put the “star” in stars and stripes.
Hoping to get your hands on the trend? Our Racing Stripes Crop Top is a hip take on the look for those who like to show off a little mid-section. The softness of the Summer at the Hamptons Dress is both feminine and unique while bold navy and white stripes make the Nice and Nautical Top a true classic. I can just picture it with a high waisted skirt or ruby red flats!
Not sure about the rest of you fashionistas out there, but right after, “What did you get for Christmas?” the question I’m getting is, “What are you doing for New Years?”.
With only four days left, I still have no idea what I will be doing … but I know what I would like to do! Barring money, travel, and time, here is the first of four awesome New Year’s Eve destinations I would love to visit (and the outfits I would love to wear!)
Ginza is an upscale part of Tokyo with luxurious shopping and high fashion everywhere. The flagship stores of Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci are always lit up, creating one of the most beautiful city nights I have ever seen. Having been to both, I dare say Ginza is brighter, even, than Times Square.
Class would be the name of my game — including a midnight toast at the Icebar Tokyo, a bar made entirely of, you guessed it, ice. Everything from walls, the bar, tables, and even glasses are made of ice. A jacket is provided in the Icebar Tokyo, but I would walk in wearing the Little Time Dress and Nekhbey Necklace in Gold [sold out!]. Simple, sophisticated, stylish … kind of like Ginza itself.
But let’s not be square bears — a splash of color is needed! Jeffrey Campbell Pacific Teal Leather Double Ruffle Heels it is!
Check back tomorrow for my next New Year’s hotspot!
