ArtDavid Bowie Is… The Retrospective at the V & A Museum

If you didn’t get to live it the first time around, now’s your chance to rock out like you’ve been there all along! The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has delved into the depths of the David Bowie archives to put on an epic exhibition that showcases the music/fashion/cultural icon’s rise to superstar-dom, and all of the amazing things he’s done and worn since he reached the cosmos.

Hundreds of bona fide Bowie treasures are on display, including “handwritten lyrics, original costumes, fashion, photography, film, music videos, set designs and instruments.” (StyleBistro) But, in a blatant show of favoritism: let’s focus on those clothes!

If you find yourself on that side of the pond (you lucky devil!), be sure to check out all the magic in person. The best part: visitors receive headsets that automatically play the song/documentary/sound/etc. that’s triggered by your location. So cool! You’ve got until August 11th, so why not make a trip out of it!

In the meantime, look who’s back in the saddle! You can watch David Bowie’s NEW music video, and/or pick up his first new album in years!

CelebrityLady Gaga Costumes by Giorgio Armani

We love Lady Gaga not just for her music, but for her super crazy, yet amazing costumes! However, it is Giorgio Armani we must give props to for executing her lavish vision for the stage. Giorgio Armani, who has worked with Gaga for her Monster Ball Tour in 2010, is working with the pop star again for her Born This Way Ball Tour and there are fantastic sketches to get us little monsters excited.
The designer is reportedly creating spiky PVC pieces with black crystals and mirrored metal. There’s even a keyboard-shaped headpiece! Say what?!
To get us even more excited for her tour, let’s take a look back at Lady Gaga’s many incredible costumes from her Monster Ball Tour!

Yeah, pretty sure the Born This Way Tour is going to be epic.

Are any of you readers excited for the tour? Show us your Lady Gaga love in the comments!

FashionThe Strong and Stylish Ladies of Iron Man 2

Scarlett Johansson in Iron Man 2When I went to see the new blockbuster hit, Iron Man 2, this weekend, I expected plenty of action packed scenes and stunning graphics to go with it. The last thing I expected was to be struck by the amazing wardrobe choices of the film’s two hot leading ladies.

Gwyneth Paltrow returns as Pepper Potts, the smart and faithful assistant to Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr. Scarlett Johansson also joins the cast as Natasha Rushman, Tony’s mysterious new assistant who’s not only beautiful but kicks major butt.

Scarlett’s character is definitely meant to be the sultry type. Her sharp business attire accentuates her feminine features with the utmost of confidence. Her wardrobe also seems to borrow from 1940′s retro style with its high waistlines, polished pumps and one leopard print dress to die for!

Gwyneth’s wardrobe is a bit more conservative. Black, grey and navy dresses pair with a tasteful boat neckline to keep her look focused on business while remaining both simplistic and lovely.

Have you seen the film? If so, who wore your favorite look?

Guest BloggerMeowsk Reports: Wonderland of a Wardrobe

Brought to you by Shauna at Meowsk!

A few weekends ago, I went to see Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, and ever since have been enamored with the costuming and clever wardrobe changes throughout the film. Designed by Colleen Atwood, the dresses look like something that would show up on fashion runways around the world. I love that they are a modern take on the iconic Alice outfit, with bits of authenticity and bold embellishments.

The original Alice dress. I adore the black detailing along the neckline and skirt hem.

An edgier Alice look with fluttery fabrics and striped ribbons. This dress needs to find its way to my closet ASAP.

A mini dress for a tiny Alice. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a better detail shot of this dress.

Off onto other adventures Alice dress. Love that skirt.

Don’t worry if you haven’t seen the movie yet; I didn’t give everything away. There is still one very special dress that I left out.

Feeling inspired by the previews, I of course had to create my own Alice outfit which I totally wore to see the film. Have you styled an Alice-inspired outfit? Share it with us, and let me know your favorite costume in the film.
