CelebrityFashion Star: Actress Fan Bingbing’s Flawless Style

Every once in awhile, a starlet comes onto the scene with a style that deserves an encore.
Allow me to introduce you to Chinese actress Fan Bingbing. She’s on this month’s cover of Vogue China and is already a huge star in her home country. She’s edging her way into American films and has already earned some notability as a style maven on American red carpets and aces it every. Single. Time.
So let’s get to know my new style crush, Fan Bingbing!
Fan Bingbing channeling her masculine and femnine side for Vogue. She looks amazing!
Most people would be overpowered by such a strong look, but Bingbing holds her own and looks so elegant.
From red carpet to the street, Bingbing can do no wrong. Yeah, I want those glasses.
Bingbing is a master of retro hair. Here she is channeling Lucille Ball in Louis Vuitton.
Bits of quirkiness (like this clutch with an attached heart) are what keep me so interested. She really looks like she has fun with her style.

Are you crushing? Check out more of her spread from this month’s issue of Vogue China!

FashionModel Pick of the Week: Night Brights

If you hadn’t noticed, one of favorite LuLu*s models, Olivia, is back after a semester in Spain. Meanwhile, we’ve been stocking up the cute party and cocktail dresses as usual. Olivia (above) and Wase (pictured below) both picked the Twice Enticed Black Dress as one of their favorite new items. Have you ever seen a neckline like that?!!

Our second pick from Olivia was this fantastic neon orange dress, which is a perfect example of all the cool brights we’ve been getting in lately. This one in particular is called the Glow with the Flow Neon Orange Dress and it glows even brighter in real life!

FashionDIY: Make a Peplum Top Out of Your Old Dress!

There are a variety of reasons you may want to revamp that old dress of yours; you’re getting tired of it, you want a new look, or the dress is actually torn or stained along the bottom. This method is really quite easy, and peplums are so hot right now you’ll be on-trend in no time!
1. Start with a dress that has a fitted or elastic natural waistline*.
*Your natural waistline is usually the narrowest part of the abdomen, a few inches above the hips.

2. Spread the skirt and make a rounded cut about 7″-10″ below the waistline.
3. Finish the hems by using the straight stitch on your sewing machine OR create an invisible, hand-stitched hem using the following slip-stitch.

Creating a slip stitch: (in general you will want to hem the lining separately.)
A. Iron or pin the hemline flat about 1/2″ on the inside of the garment.
B. Use a single thread that matches the color of your garment. Sew up and down evenly as shown below, making sure not to gather the fabric. Your long stitches will be on the underside of the garment, leaving tiny (nearly invisible) stitches on the outside!

Now all you have to think about is how you’re going to style your new top!

FashionModel Pick of the Week: Utterly Irresistible Strapless Ivory Dress

Here at Lulus.com we love to let you in behind-the-scenes. This week I decided to talk to our lovely model, Alyssa, to find out her favorite new item. Naturally, Alyssa picked the Utterly Irresistible Strapless Dress. Besides the fact that the lace design is flattering and not over-the-top, Alyssa loves the snug fit and the strapless silhouette. Lookin’ good Alyssa!
