It Girl: Jemima Kirke

Fashion | 24 April 2013

by

You may know Jemima Kirke from HBO’s hit show Girls, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg for this It Girl! Not only does she rock it as an artist and an actress, but we love Kirke for her uber cool and carefree fashion sense.Boho Beauty: With her long locks full of beachy waves, and an apparent love for crushed velvet and printed silks, Jemima Kirke is a true Boho beauty! With a look that’s often ethereal, but with a touch of rock and roll, she would surely fit in at your favorite festival.

About Face: Kirke tends to rock a more natural look by sporting a perfectly stained pout while going easy on the eye makeup.

Artistic Vision: Jemima Kirke fell into acting by accident and considers herself an artist first and actress second, her main squeeze being oil and watercolor portraits. In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Kirke says that her particular style of painting “keeps the reaction immediate and free. Working this way allows me not to be exacting or to second guess myself.”

Character Counts: The character “Jessa” on Girls is based on Kirke herself, and she openly admits to her time spent as a wild child. At age 27, Kirke is now married and a mother of two, with successful careers as both an artist and actress.

LuLu*s at Coachella: Best of the Fest!

Fashion | 23 April 2013

by

As we mentioned last week, we sent four blogger babes into the desert to cover all the Coachella festivities! From the music to poolside parties and everything in between, these ladies had a blast and looked gorgeous at the same time. Jealous yet? We sure are! Take a look below to see what kinds of awesome adventures they had.

Kiara of Tobruck Ave. rocking the Wish You Were Here Swimsuit while lounging poolside.

I love this Ombre Maxi with the Capture the Flag Bustier. Perfect festival attire. The Coconuts All About Turquoise flat sandals will make for easy walking as well. Not to mention they are freaking cute.

Bethany is a total babe. Her blog, Snakes Nest, is a must read. Who else could pull of these killer white single soles with such ease!? Add a fringy tank, printed denim shorts and a cool clutch; check you’re done!

Check out more cute festival styles after the jump!

David Bowie Is... The Retrospective at the V & A Museum

Art | 17 April 2013

by

If you didn’t get to live it the first time around, now’s your chance to rock out like you’ve been there all along! The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has delved into the depths of the David Bowie archives to put on an epic exhibition that showcases the music/fashion/cultural icon’s rise to superstar-dom, and all of the amazing things he’s done and worn since he reached the cosmos.

Hundreds of bona fide Bowie treasures are on display, including “handwritten lyrics, original costumes, fashion, photography, film, music videos, set designs and instruments.” (StyleBistro) But, in a blatant show of favoritism: let’s focus on those clothes!

If you find yourself on that side of the pond (you lucky devil!), be sure to check out all the magic in person. The best part: visitors receive headsets that automatically play the song/documentary/sound/etc. that’s triggered by your location. So cool! You’ve got until August 11th, so why not make a trip out of it!

In the meantime, look who’s back in the saddle! You can watch David Bowie’s NEW music video, and/or pick up his first new album in years!
