MusicFresh Fall Albums

With so many great albums being released this fall, I just had to give a little shout out to what I think is a more than healthy mix of Rap, Pop, R&B, Indie and Country music.

September 20: In case you missed it, sophomore pop star Demi Lovato released her third album Unbroken, while senior songstressTori Amos released what promises to be another riveting Tori album: Night of Hunters!

October 4: If you are fan of the great Mary J. Blige, then you are in luck! The star will be releasing My Life II . . . the Journey Continues, seventeen years after the original LP, My Life, was born.

Indie kids delight, because the newest by Feist (yes!) entitled Metals will be arriving in stores at the same time.

clockwise from top left: Drake, Tori Amos, Demi Lovato and Bjork.

October 11: This may be the biggest musical day of fall with everyone’s favorite Icelander, Bjork, coming out with her slightly delayed album Biophilia. Look out for all of the custom apps for this one; Bjork has had a team of artists and programmers working to create a full-on experience.

The same day boasts the first full-length album by American Idol star, Lauren Alaina (remember Lauren?) AND Ryan Adams will be coming out with his newest, Ashes and Fire

clockwise from top left: Feist, Lauren Alaina, Ryan Adams, Mary J. Blige

October 24: After Drake’s amazing debut, Thank Me Later, released just over a year ago, he’s coming back with another Rap-meets-R&B like only Drake can do entitled Take Care.

Oh, we will Drake. You and your friends just keep feeding us with good music and we will be well taken care of indeed! Let me leave you with the title track from Ryan Adams’ anxiously-awaited collection:

ContestsFestival Season Part 2: Win Tickets to Bonnaroo from the Kopecky Family Band!

Are you ready to win tickets to Bonnaroo?

Enjoy the fresh indie musings of the Kopecky Family Band, win a fabulous prize package, and pack up the car on your way to the Bonnaroo music festival in Manchester, Tennessee!!!!!

This talented hipster troupe is not only natives of Nashville, but they have extended their skillful hands to you to join them at their Bonnaroo debut. With sounds similar to Feist or My Morning Jacket, these kids create music that is “. . .emotive, and evokes raw honesty and vulnerability, whilst capturing your attention through its unmistakable power and presence. The sounds created by the booming and orchestral-like 6-piece challenge the listener’s ear while still offering sweet melodies to sing along with.”

I love this song, “Howlin’ at the Moon” and after you see them in this quaint little radio booth you can come join the family by entering on the Contest Page.

Anybody ready to marry into this family?

MusicFriday Funday Music Videos: “Don’t Look Back” by She & Him

I thought I’d share two fun music videos for your Friday! Here is a new release and an old favorite so watch, listen, dance, laugh, and most of all enjoy your weekend!

The collaboration of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel in their new She & Him music video “Don’t Look Back” is at once cookie cutter cutesy and hipster funky at the same time. This duo bee-bops around the video as if the 60′s never happened and it’s still a sci-fi fantasy that they’re hoping to live through.

Directed by Jeremy Konner and choreographed by Sophie Olson the “Don’t Look Back” video reminds me, in a great kind of way, of Feist’s music video “1 2 3 4″ from 2007.

So here is for fun Fridays and great weekends!
