Paradise by Artist Katherine Tromans

Art | 23 May 2013

by

What does paradise look like? For artist Katherine Tromans, the subject of her final degree project became a collaboration between herself and the imagination of the people she asked this very question to. Working to literally illustrate others’ ideas of “paradise”, her dreamy pastel-hued paintings culminated in morphed landscapes that are convincingly paradisaical.

Pattern and Peach Fuzz: French Illustrator Elodie

Art | 01 May 2013

by

Our favorite illustrators? The ones who are obsessed with fashion like French illustrator Elodie Nadreau!

Known simply as Elodie, this “Parisienne” has rolled her love for fashion and talent for digitally-embellished drawings into one perfect little package of color, texture, and flirtatious line-work. Elodie’s work emits a soft and sensual ambiance with subtle layers of pattern often weaving in and out of the main subject. Favoring female portraiture Elodie is inspired by what’s happening on the runways and magazines, and I love how she imparts a stippled peach-fuzz effect over much of her work, giving the pieces a warm, almost buzzing quality.

Fiercely Feminine: Meet Artist Zso

Art | 27 December 2012

by

If living in New York and working as a designer/artist has ever been your dream, then meet the woman who’s living the dream; Sara Blake, otherwise known as the artist Zso. With a fierce sense of femininity, and line-work that’s off the flipping charts, Zso’s content ranges from abstract color fields broken by lightning bolts of line, to inky portraiture, and typography slicker than a ’70s hairdo.

Kaleidoscopic Eden: Illustration by Artist Bozka

Art | 14 August 2012

by

Living and working in Warsaw, Poland, artist Bozka (short for Bozena Rydlewska) uses a masterful technique that combines both digital drawing and handmade collage elements to illustrate beautiful, botanically based imagery. Bold colors play out into even bolder scenes, capturing a kaleidoscopic Eden, and a gathering place for the super-natural world.
