Blogger Picks: Drug Store Beauty

“My favorite drug store buy is Garnier Surf Hair. Even though I no longer live anywhere near the ocean, I can still get that wave-toussled look. I’ll run a small amount through damp hair, throw it up in a messy bun for my drive to work, and by the time I arrive, my hair looks like I just stepped off the beach!”

“I’ve become obsessed with Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream . It’s about 13 bucks. I love it because I don’t like to (read: don’t have the time to) wear heavy foundation during the work week. This is as simple to put on as moisturizer and it gives you that “my skin naturally looks this way” glow. Bonus: It has SPF in it so I’m also protecting my skin!”
“My favorite drugstore beauty buys are definitely the Revlon lipsticks. They go on so well and they have a great selection of colors. I love the Orange Flip for summer :)

Psssst brand Dry Shampoo! I swear by this stuff. Having red hair means I either sacrifice the brightness to wash it every other day, or using products like dry shampoo to help keep it clean, full of volume, and best of all — red! It also comes in really handy for summer days, travelings, and road trips. I always keep a can in my car.”

“My favorite drugstore item is the Revlon Just Bitten lipstains. They are awesome! Last all day and are not heavy like a lipsticks. I have like every color! The perfect way to get color on your lips for girls who hate to wear lipstick (like me!)”
What are your favorite drugstore beauty buys?

Art Inspired Fashion by Jen of Jenloveskev: Wayne Thiebaud

Hi Friends, it’s Jen again. September is sure going out with a bang here in New England; it was 85 degrees yesterday! As much as I want cool fall weather, I am trying to enjoy the warmth while it’s still here. So, for this month’s Art Inspired Fashion post I chose this cute, colorful and painterly piece by Wayne Thiebaud.

Thiebaud was know for his use of heavy pigment and exaggerated colors to depict his subjects. I love his paintings. They have such a retro feel to them.

I wanted play off the chocolate, mint green and coral color in the ice cream. I think the outfit came out perfect to represent the sweet, carefree vibe the painting has.
This Tulle top has the cutest eyelet detail, and is the most amazing mint green color. Pair that with this BB Dakota skirt and it is a match made in heaven. Ice cream heaven that is.
Now, if only I had an ice cream cone in my hand. Then I would be one happy girl!
See you next month!

Hi Friends, it’s Jen again from Jenloveskev. I hope you are all having a fabulous summer. Today, for our Art Inspired Fashion post, we are going to look at a Georgia O’Keeffe painting.

It’s titled “Deer’s Skull with Pedernal” and was painted in 1936. I chose this particular painting by Georgia O’Keeffe because I was drawn to the colors and how calm and serene the painting feels.

I was instantly inspired to create an outfit from the painting. I wanted to feel like a traveler; someone out to make their own path. This painting made me want to explore the desert and find neat treasures along the way.

These shorts are super comfortable to walk around in, and the pattern on them is so fun and fashionable – the colors are just beautiful.

This cross shoulder bag is great for collecting all the trinkets you find along your journey!

These Jeffrey Campbell wedges are the perfect exploring shoe. The wedge isn’t very high, so they’re easy to walk in. The neutral color helps makes your legs look extra long too!

Bonus! Layer it all up with some cool necklaces and lots of bracelets and you’re good to go. Whether you are a trailblazer in the city or the desert, this is the perfect summer outfit.

Art Inspired Fashion by Jen of Jenloveskev: Henri Matisse

Hey everyone! It’s Jen again from Jenloveskev. Here we are with the 2nd installment of our Art Inspired Fashion posts. This month I decided to choose a famous French painter because I am going to Paris next month for a week!! I am so excited. One of my favorite painters is Henri Matisse. He used such beautiful bold colors, and every painting is a joy to look at. That is why I chose this Seville Still Life painting; it is so full of life with all the contrasting patterns.

I didn’t want to be so literal with my interpretation, but I did look around for a fancy couch in a red room to take pictures. I guess we are in short supply of those in my neck of the woods. Haha!

Anyway, when I saw this dress I knew it would be perfect. Not only for this painting but for summer as well. I love the floral print and the colors that are used, not to mention how cute the collar is. Isn’t it adorable?

I swear the color of this dress is the same color of the background of the painting. I see lots of remixing in our future together!!
