Style File: The Met Gala 2013

Celebrity, Fashion | 07 May 2013

An annual ball for the unveiling of fabulous Costume Institute exhibits, the Met Gala has been one of the most coveted nights for fashion & celebrity to collide in a most fabulous way since 1948. This red carpet event is held at none other than the infamous Metropolitan Museum, and you can bet that every star does his or her best to wow the crowd! This year’s theme was “PUNK: Chaos to Couture,” and we were definitely witness to some of the edgiest looks to ever hit a red carpet!

Donna Karan Darlings: Emmy Rossum was flawless in bejeweled ivory and makeup to marvel, while Hailee Steinfeld wore an embellished fit ‘n’ flare that was simply perfect with her clever cat-eye!

Feisty in Floor-length: Anne Hathaway not only slayed in her “static” Valentino gown, but she debuted fierce locks that gave her that rocker edge. Allison Williams wore Altuzarra that seemed to melt into the crimson floor, and while it may not be for most, I found her brilliant & bewitching!

Katie Holmes was definitely one of my absolute favorites. She looked nothing shy of stunning while floating upon the red carpet in a white Calvin Klein masterpiece. Elegance has never looked so good!

Cut-out Cuties: Emma Watson never fails to take our breath away, this time looking as chic as ever in a sexy Prabal Gurung dress! Meanwhile, Miranda Kerr bared her bold side in sleek black Michael Kors with daring cut-outs!

Studded Sirens: Cara Delevingne was a Burberry babe in a plunging neckline adorned in spikes, a sultry smoky eye, and a punk rock side part. Jessica Alba was stunning in an embellished Tory Burch dress with studs, strategic cut-outs, and an up-do to adore!

So who was the show stopper of the incredible Met Gala? The always-fabulous Blake Lively, looking seriously gorgeous in a Gucci gown that was delightfully detailed from top to bottom! Silky layers cascaded effortlessly from a beautifully beaded waist, falling gracefully to the floor. From her choice of dramatic earrings that just grazed her shoulders to her sultry sleek pony, Blake was utter perfection in a sea of incredible creatures!

What an event! What a theme! Who took your breath away, ladies?

Style File: The Golden Globes

The ladies of Hollywood had some haute moments on the Golden Globes red carpet last night and we can’t wait to show you our favorite looks of the evening.

Anne Hathaway and Lea Michele took textured whites to a new level with a peplum top and a stunning slit. Both ladies looked lovely in floor-length white and chose to let their dresses shine by keeping accessories at a minimum.

Emily Blunt looked ultra sleek and sophisticated in this gold Michael Kors gown that was accessorized with pink jewels for an added pop of color.

Adele looked super glam in a long black Burberry dress with an embellished collar while Kate Hudson chose an Alexander McQueen gown with decorative glitzy-gold accents and a sexy keyhole cutout.

Lucy Liu looked enchanting in a fishtail braid and a floral Carolina Herrera strapless gown with fitted bodice and a flowing skirt. She was a standout on the red carpet for sure!

Nude + Sparkle = Major Win for Kerry Washington and Isla Fisher. Both ladies kept their looks classic and timeless with a simple ‘do and matching silver sparkly accessories.

Jessica Alba is hands-down our pick for Best Dressed! She looked absolutely flawless in this pink Oscar de la Renta gown with Harry Winston jewels and a fun feathered clutch.

Old Hollywood glam seemed to be a look that a lot of stars were going for this year and we loved it! Deep side parts, hair pulled to the side and floor-length gowns were all over the red-carpet and we can’t wait to see what the Academy Awards bring for 2013.

Who are your picks for Best Dressed at the Golden Globes? We’d love to know!

Stars are out for Paris Fashion Week

Fashion | 13 July 2010

Celebs are out and about for Fashion Week in Paris!  These are a couple of my favorite looks from this week!

Jessica Alba looked beautiful at the Christain Dior show.  Her Dior dress was a light, floral that left her looking fresh and glowing. She kept her look clean with minimal hoop earrings, a braided beige belt, and white, peep toe heels.

Now for something completely different….

Taking a break from shooting “Gossip Girl”, Leighton Meester showed up to the Chanel show with this striking look. The classic Chanel silhouette was given an extreme makeover comprised of leather trimmed with gold fabric and black beads (not exactly practical during a heat wave). The look is topped off with bulky, black bracelets matching the tasseled statement necklace and open toe ankle boots from Christian Louboutin. It can’t be denied that she looks amazing!

Get Glowing, Gorgeous Skin

Beauty | 17 November 2009

Beautiful skin with a healthy glow never goes out of style.

Below are pics of celebrities that I absolutely admire for the radiance of their skin. From the flawless luminescence of Dita Von Teese, to the sun-kissed glow of Jessica Alba and the dewiness of Liv Tyler, there is much evidence to show that a soft, candlelight glow can go a long way in enhancing your look.

Step One: Make Healthy Lifestyle Choices

  • DRINK PLENTY OF WATER: Water refreshes the skin and keeps it hydrated and dewy. Have a glass first thing in the morning to wake up your complexion.
  • GET PLENTY OF SLEEP: Nothing dulls down your skin like sleep depravation. Get enough rest each night and your skin will be ready to rise and shine.
  • EAT SMART: This one is a no brainer. Your skin needs to be nourished from the inside out. Cut back on refined sugars and starches while stocking up on whole grains, fruits, veggies, and stomach friendly probiotics like yogurt and kefir. All will keep your digestion system running efficiently while delivering nutrients to the skin.

Step Two: Adopt a Pro-Active Skin Care Regimen

  • EXFOLIATE: Exfoliating 2-3 times a week will remove dead skin cells, allowing younger skin to shine through. It will also help your foundation glide on smoother. Try the Gentle Exfoliating Facial Cleanser by Yes to Carrots or Biore’s Refresh Daily Cleansing Cloths if your skin is more delicate.
  • WASH BEFORE BED: Never, never, ever go to bed with a day’s worth of makeup on. Your foundation and eye makeup will cake, smear and clog pores. Get into the habit of washing your face before bed, even if it’s a late night. Your skin will thank you in the morning.
  • HYDRATE: If you’re in the market for skin care products, moisturizer is the thing you want to spend your money on. Choose a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type and use it twice a day. It will plump your skin and seal in moisture. My favorite moisturizers of all time: Mario Badescu’s Buttermilk Moisturizer and Kinerase’s Clear Skin Moisture Light.

Step Three: Try These  Makeup Bag Tricks

  •  Get a luminescent glow by dusting your face with a sheer, light reflecting powder to set your foundation or light up bare skin. One such powder that is gaining much popularity is Make Up For Ever’s HD Micro Finish Powder. If it’s made to make you look flawless in HD, then just imagine what it can do for a day at class or work.
  • Apply a highlighter to places where light reflects naturally on your face. I like to press Stila’s Eyeshadow in Starlight on the tops of the cheekbones, down the nose, at the cupid’s bow of the lip, and at the brow bone for a radiant lift.
  • if you’re skin is starting to dull by mid-day, boost your completion with a spritz of hydration. I love love love Mario Badescu’s Facial Spray It will give your skin a dose of dewy while putting new life back into your foundation.

Trend Alert: How To Wear Knee High Socks

Fashion | 16 November 2009

by

No longer just a uniform accessory for school girls, knee high socks are making a big comeback this season for women of all ages. Spied constantly on the stars and repeatedly on the set of Gossip Girl, these socks are truly strutting their stuff!

The look is so easy, simple and cute. These socks especially make a great transition piece for fall, allowing you to transform shorts or a skirt into a colorful, weather appropriate outfit.

I love them paired with a sophisticated oxford heel or cute bootie, as seen on Blake Lively below. They also make a perfect couple with the growing trend of tall boots as seen on Victoria Beckham and Jessica Alba (below).

Available in many different colors and prints, these stylin’ socks are taking the center stage when it comes to fall wardrobes everywhere. If you want in on the trend, check out our new collection of knee highs.

My favorites? The Argyle Addict Knee High Socks in Brown and the Kawaii Crocheted Knee High Socks in Teal.

Did you see these?
