Style File: The Oscar After Parties!

Celebrity | 26 February 2013

After the party… comes the after party!
And this year, our favorite Hollywood starlets were gorgeous in glitz and glam galore.
Brilliant beading,  stunning shapes, and phenomenal floor-lengths were definitely the after party themes.

Olivia Munn and Amy Adams were effortlessly flawless in intricate gowns. Clean up-dos & subtle make-up allowed these two to simply sparkle!

Alessandra Ambrosio slayed in a sheer dress with beading that made us blush. And Kate Bosworth was perfect in a pretty mini. Both ladies proved that it really is all in the details!

Kate Beckinsale was fun & fabulous in a strapless fit & flare! She rocked a high pony and fresh face, completing one of our absolute fave looks of the evening!

Old Hollywood looked young and fresh on Amber Heard & Miranda Kerr. Their side-swept waves, red lips, and long gowns were anything but old and every bit Hollywood!

Sequins & sparkles & shimmer, oh my! Naomi Watts won us over in a shiny one-shoulder, while Rashida Jones was the epitome of class in a simple yet stunning black sequin number.

Jennifer Lawrence went from demure damsel to bodacious babe in a gunmetal gown that fit like a glove. With a to-die-for bodice and waterfall flow, we were completely taken by this look.

And she was wonderfully complemented by her tiny counterpart, the Oscar for Best Actress!

Outfit Inspiration: Coachella

Fashion | 22 March 2011

410With summer festival season upon us, and Coachella quickly approaching (24 days!), I thought I would give you guys some quick inspiring tips from some fashionable ladies to get your creative juices flowing on how to dress for one of the best summer festivals I’ve ever been to.
Coachella is hosted once a year on a weekend in April, down in the desert of Indio, CA and never fails to disappoint with both the music and fashion line-up. Spotting “street style” at summer festivals has been a fad in recent years, and below are some fashion staple outfits on the festival scene.
1. Back to the Basics: Florals

For any type of festival, floral print is always the go-to fabric. This print is perfect for the heat of the desert, and by adding a little brown belt, the perfect hat, and an awesome pair of sunnies you’ll always be looking good. Another plus: Stains won’t show up as much with a print, it can get pretty dirty in the desert.

2. Laid Back: Simple Chic

Most of the time Coachella is crowded and has some pretty gnarly heat, especially when you are in the middle of a hot & sweaty crowd. And in those situations, all you really want to be is comfortable. These ladies take it there by wearing simple outfits based around cut-off shorts and oversized shirts, matched with the perfect accessories. With small details such as the cowboy boots, the blue poncho, and the bright red hat- each of these looks embodies the laid back chic style.
3. Peak-a-boo: Crochets & Cutouts

It’s no secret that Indio get’s hot, real hot- up to 100 degrees farenheit somedays. A great way to both keep and look cool is by layering loose knit crochets with a pair of cut-offs and boots for a devil-may-care gypsy vibe, like Alessandra Ambrosio. Bring back the 90′s by channeling Pretty Woman in a cutout dress, which is also a perfect cover for your swimsuit. Or work it like Kate Bosworth, who kept it minimalistlic in her nude crochet dress and booties.

4. Hair Flair: the Ultimate Accessory
More than likely you will be camping when you go to Coachella, which means you won’t be able to wash your hair. Whether you are hiding some messy locks with a scarf or donning a hat to hide from the sun, hair accessories are a key tool to looking fresh at any festival, and also protects your head from those UV rays. The floppy hat paired with a maxi gives off an effortless boho chic, the straw fedora will perfectly compliment a bright girly dress, while the romper paired with the head scarf oozes retro-cuteness.
Which look will you be rocking at Coachella this year?

Oh, For the Love of JC!

Interviews | 20 August 2009

by

LuLu*s has long been a lover of Jeffrey Campbell, also known affectionately as “JC”. What girl can say no to the beauty, comfort, and carefully crafted pieces of art that envelope your feet? So, it was with girlish curiosity that we interviewed the tres amusant Ty McBride, Jeffrey Campbell Brand Specialist, curator for all JC shoe “art”, personality and shoe expert extraordinaire:

Ty McBride, describe a day in your shoes.

“That’s what I love about working for a small company — we all wear so many hats. We all truly collab to work together on everything. I do sales, tradeshows, but also oversee a lot of the fun creative projects. I’m the official JC blogger and tweet-master!”

What’s your favorite part about going to tradeshows?

“I suppose it’s seeing my favorite clients. I am based in NYC, so somethings I don’t get to catch up with my clients and friends from Saint Louis, Chicago, or Texas. We have AMAZING CLIENTS.”

If you were any kind of shoe, what would you be?

“Oh gosh. A lucite platform with bottom lights. I love trashy.”

What should we look for in heel and boot trends for Fall 2009? How about Spring 2010?

“Well Spring 2010 is still in the secret vault. For Fall, I would say you should take my advice on the following: GRAB ONTO COLOR! Color is huge for Fall. Mustard. Purple. Grey. Khaki. Metallics. Mixed proportions — this is HUGE. Mix an over-the-knee boot with tiny dress for example. Masculine looks for women — everyone should own some version of that as well.”

How do you choose what merchants carry JC shoes?

“They choose us to some extent. We believe in brand loyalty. We try to cater to those who have been loyal to us since we started. We try to respect our clients and their locations — we try to have FUN clients.”

You must meet a ton of die-hard JC fanatics. Are there any particulars that stand out among the rest?

“There are some crazy regular emailers… fans who have seen a JC shoe in an airport, or cafe somewhere… and are now on the hunt for it! We got a lot of iPhone pics with a note that says… ‘I NEED THIS BY FRIDAY.’”

I noticed Chelsea Handler from Chelsea Lately was wearing a pair of Marly’s awhile back and Terri Hatcher has them in black. What other celebs can be spotted in JC?

“Chelsea Handler!! I love her… I did not know that. We are lucky… lots of cute celebs like JC. Zooey, Kate Bosworth, Nicole Richie, Fergie… One of our favorites is Agyness Deyn — the famous model. She is often seen wearing JC on her super model feet. Also, our sandals do well with the LA celeb set, Nicki Hilton and Kate Hudson.”

What in your experience and opinion, are the key elements that make a particular JC shoe a best seller?

“Our best sellers all seem to have one thing in common. They have to SPEAK to the masses. And by that I mean, they have to fill a void… regardless of its a cute flat, or a crazy heel — it’s strange. It’s unique and what people are looking for to complete their look. If we make a shoe that applies to lots of people — we know we are on the right path.”

With that being said, Lulus.com is proud to announce the arrival of the Jeffrey Campbell Michelle Ruffle Unicorn Heel! Thank you to Jeffrey Campbell shoes and Ty McBride!

Did you see these?
