FashionFashion Collaboration: The Alien Invasion of Lily Donaldson

An invasion of alien beauty bombarded my fashion world last week when this fashion editorial came to me through Fashion Gone Rogue. Don’t fear, this is a peaceful invasion of a stoic super model, Lily Donaldson, caught by photographer Sølve Sundsbø.

It’s almost as if she’s on another planet with her serene poses and calm reassuring attitude.

An updo can look old and tried but here it looks new and modern. The reflection of the light off of Donaldson’s hair and the contrast of the shadows in the folds of the garment create highlight every detail in the clothing and on the model.

Here Lily Donaldson looks like a sand mermaid, apparently a new type of creature that sparkles while basking in the sun of the dunes.

Oh how I love this shot! I know the pants are bizarre, but they utilized them to pose her in JUST the right way!

Sundsbø captured these wonderful silhouettes of brilliantly constructed garments, styled to perfection by George Cortina, for November 2008 Vogue Nippon.

FashionDay Dreamer: Steven Meisel Catches Lily Donaldson, Gemma Ward & Caroline Trentini Doing Their Laundry!

If you’ve ever spent some time trudging all your dirty clothes through the heat, rain, hail, or snow to the laundromat then the chances that you were daydreaming away as your clothes were on the spin cycle are pretty high.

When I lived in Brooklyn there were tons of laundromat’s to choose from but I always chose the one’s where I could have some peace and quiet. That being said, when I happened on this editorial I found it instantly entertaining.

I mean, how awesome would it be to do your chores in haute couture evening gowns?

Besides impractical, it is a hilarious picture of how much fun you can have with fashion. Plus, these photos are part of an editorial where the styling, set, makeup, hair, and casting couldn’t be better.

FashionSummer Festival Fashions

It’s that time again, ladies. My favorite season of the year is fast approaching: the season of the summer music festival.

Now music festivals are not only about seeing all your favorite bands in one place. Fashion has become a major staple of the festival scene in recent years. With the appearances of celebrities such as Chloe Sevigny and Drew Barrymore as well as fashion-forward models Agyness Deyn and Lily Donaldson, music festivals are becoming the it-place to be seen.

Not sure where the best festivals are at? Not to worry, most likely you can find a festival in your area. Bonnaroo is held in Tennessee, Coachella near Palm Springs, SXSW in the ever popular Austin, Texas, and Sasquatch in the north of Washington. If you are overseas, Glastonbury is the place to be.

Heading to Glastonbury? Wellies and cut-offs are a staple. Bonnaroo has more of a country style vibe, but wellies will also come in handy here, as it does get wet. Sasquatch is up in northern Washington so keep warm by layering key pieces. Coachella channels the LA style with floral dresses and big hats and boots.

Get ready for your festival days with some essential pieces. Romp around Bonnaroo in our Dellal Day Romper, cruise Coachella in the High Tide Maxi Dress by Insight, or even pair the Wild Wild West Top with the Levi’s 501 Cutoff Shorts in Gasoline for the perfect ensemble for any festival.
