CelebrityLuLu*s Ode to Scream Queens

Halloween is quickly approaching, loves, and in honor of such a spooooky holiday, we are bringing you our definitive ranking of Scream Queens! What makes a “scream queen,” you might ask? Well, a queen of true screams is one kick-butt, no-fear girl who won’t go down without a fight. And she typically lasts through the sequel (or several), consistently proving why she rules the horror movie genre! So, without further ado, the babes that make blood look fierce!

Janet Leigh as Marion Crane
in
 Psycho

scream queens

The start of it all – when leading ladies in horror films were really put on the map – was with Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock’s spine-tingling Psycho. She may not have outlasted Norman Bates, but she did shock us all with the final scream!

Heather Langenkamp as Nancy Thompson
in A Nightmare on Elm Street

noes

Poor little Nancy Thompson just can’t get away from Freddy Krueger in Wes Craven’s big-screen nightmare, but she ultimately finds herself face-to-face with the killer, and brings us the term of “final girl” as she survives!

Sarah Michelle Gellar as Helen Shivers
in I Know What You Did Last Summer

ikwydls3

Not only does Sarah Michelle make our list for her role as the gorgeously gruesome Helen, but we also have to acknowledge her roles as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her lead as Karen in The Grudge. This girl has major pipes in the horror genre!

Jennifer Love Hewitt as Julie James
in I Know What You Did Last Summer

ikwydls2

Good girl Julie James (a personal favorite) finds herself at odds with a man she and her friends “killed” one summer, only to discover that he isn’t dead at all, but seeking his vengeance. How she survives isn’t pretty, but hey, at least Freddie Prinze Jr. was by her side!

Drew Barrymore as Casey Becker
in Scream

scream1

Okay okay, so Drew Barrymore didn’t make it past that iconic first scene in Scream, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t still talking about her role and final scream in this cult classic. Wanna play a game?

Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott
in Scream

scream2

Our runner-up for THE leading lady of horror (and the actual Scream Queen) is Miss Sidney Prescott herself, who has made it through four terrifying films in which “Ghostface” stalks her and eliminates those around her one by one. Again, we ask, wanna play a game?

And the ULTIMATE Scream Queen…

Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode
in Halloween

halloween

As the daughter of the original leading lady of horror flicks, Janet Leigh (who also made our list), Jamie had big shoes to fill. Turns out, those genes run strong in such a talented family because Jamie Lee Curtis really took the title of scream queen and ran with it (get it?). Having survived through every sequel, we can’t imagine Michael Myers ever stood a chance against this bad babe!

CelebrityCrush of the Week: Andrew Lincoln

andrew lincoln

Calling all The Walking Dead fans… This week is probably our biggest crush yet. With those baby blues, that scruff, and the way he wears a sheriff’s hat, how could we NOT be in love with Andrew Lincoln?! We’re still not sure how it’s possible to look THAT handsome during a zombie apocalypse, but hey, we don’t mind. We first fell for Mr. Lincoln as the lovable, sign-holding, baby-faced gentleman in love with his best friend’s girl in Love Actually, and we haven’t looked back since. Lead on, Andrew, we’d follow you anywhere!

CelebrityReese Witherspoon Covers Vogue October

Vogue’s October cover is like music to our ears (and eyes). A bright-eyed and fresh-faced Reese Witherspoon graces the cover with a classic look to admire. The actress is promoting her new movie Wild, in which a woman takes herself on a journey across the Pacific Crest Trail, and, all on her own, finds strength and healing in the face of the obstacles she faces. Vogue does a fantastic job of capturing Reese’s natural beauty, placing her in scenes from yesteryear. Her graceful finger-waved tresses, simple and elegant dress silhouettes, and fierce expressions make this editorial simply breathtaking. We can’t wait to see Reese own the big screen once again!

This weekend the world’s most eligible (and perpetual) bachelor, our favorite silver fox, George Clooney, tied the knot! The lucky bride? The stunning Amal Alamuddin, an English human rights barrister, and our new favorite fashionista! The blushing bride stepped out on the town in Italy in several fabulous looks, and these were our absolute favorites!

How perfect is this Dolce & Gabbana resort dress? The black and white stripes are incredibly flattering and we love a perfect halter neckline!

This look is just too good for words. Amal wore this Stella McCartney jumpsuit perfectly, completing an already flawless look with a matching hat that is chic as can be!

As if we weren’t already swooning, the lady of the weekend took it to another level in a crimson Alexander McQueen gown, and we were speechless! Complete with a red lip and perfect coif, she worked it!

Aside from her incredible wedding gown, this is the dress EVERYONE is talking about. Amal wore this perfect Giambattista Valli floral mini alongside George, and you could almost hear the collective catching of breaths!

And would this post really be complete without seeing THE dress?

What wedding would be complete without Oscar de la Renta? Not George and Amal’s! The delicate lace dress was an absolute dream as the two exchanged nuptials, and the new Mrs. George Clooney was absolute perfection!

Congratulations, you two!
