Right now, you may be questioning me on what exactly is a Tumblr.

Well, don’t you dare fret, I’m here for you. I’ll give you a brief explanation and then we’ll be on our way.

Tumblr is a short-form blog that allows you to to post text, images, videos, links, quotes, and audio to your blog as well as follow people and re-blog their posts. Tumblr brags to be one of the easiest forms of blogging (which I tend to agree with) and has beautiful layouts (or themes) that you can install in the blink of an eye. Many innovative blogs have sprouted from this new type of blogging and each week I hope to help your inspiration needs by posting a few of my favorite Tumblrs.

Art: Eat. Sleep. Draw

Eat. Sleep. Draw. is an online art community with all original content, that excepts art from anyone, all you have to do is submit it. This site boasts an amazing collection of art, however some might be NSFW, so be careful.

Food: Scanwiches

Artful and delicious scans of sandwiches, both homemade and bought, can be found at Scanwiches. Supposedly for educational purposes, all I care about is this sandwich eye candy.

Celebrity: Donald Glover

You know him from his role as Troy Barnes in NBC hit Community. You probanly laughed as his jokes while he was writer for 30 Rock. But this self-proclaimed “black nerd” has a fantasic tumblr chalk full of his jokes, comics, art, fashion, food, and music. Even if you’ve never heard of him the content alone is worth following.

Comedy: F*Yeah Prancing Cera

Internet memes (aka a catchphrase or concept that spreads rapidly from person to person via the internet) all the the rage right now, but my favorite by far is the photo of Michael Cera prancing. F*Yeah Prancing Cera, is the central place to find the best memes of your favorite nerd-boy prancing away.

Geeks of Our Dreams!

I’d like to take a moment to review a very important piece of literature that surfaced in the warehouse last week. It isn’t every day that a book of such collected data and relevance comes our way. Introducing:

Oh, who am I kidding!

But really gals, this book is awesome and a new favorite! Each page features a sweet color picture of all of the dreamiest (and nerdiest) hunks that we think about on a semi-regular basis. This, paired with a side of “geekboat nuggets” (basic and not-so-basic facts about our objet du desir). Any Michael Cera fans out there? How about Zach Braff, Mos Def, or Daniel Radcliffe?

The fabulous Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Gosling, and. . . Ira Glass?!

I am pretty much enamored by this fun-filled book, with one exception.

Jonathon Groff! The broadway star who plays Jesse on the hit series “Glee” stole my heart in his role as Michael Lang in the movie “Taking Woodstock”. Here he is with another geeky dreamboat, Demitri Martin, and cleverly dressed on the right.

Must-See Movie: “Paper Heart”

Fiction and non-fiction unite in a little story about love.

The filmmakers of Paper Heart refer to their creation as a “hybrid documentary” in that it blends real life stories and documentary-style filmmaking within a fictional storyline.

Staring actors Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera, the 2009 film attempts to take a look at love from many different angles.

It starts out with Charlyne making a documentary about love – something she hasn’t encountered in romance and wishes to learn more about.

Enter Michael Cera.

After meeting Cera at a house party, Charlyne is obviously smitten and their fictional romance soon blossoms into the focal point of the documentary. Though their relationship was set up and scripted, I found it charmingly fresh, believable and relatable. I loved the timid beginnings of their courtship, from the first awkward silences, to the hesitant handholding and eventually to the revelation of their true feelings for each other.

Let’s also not forget the great interviews between Charlyne and others on the topic of love. From new couples, old couples, optimistic children, a divorcee, some scientists and even a psychic, Charlyne discovers more about what love means to different people and what it means to herself.

So, whether you’re a love skeptic or a true believer, Paper Heart gives everyone little food for thought on an age-old mystery, l’amore.
