MusicLuLu*s Weekend Playlist: Totally 90s!

nineties

We don’t know about you, but we are still totally in love with the 90s! The flannel, the platforms, and the awesome music! This week, we were feeling a little nostalgic and wanted to share some of our favorite rad tunes from the decade. We definitely danced around the office to each and every one of these songs, and yes, we still know ALL the words! Have fun, LuLu*s loves!

“Hey Jealousy” – Gin Blossoms

“Torn” – Natalie Imbruglia

“Semi-Charmed Life” – Third Eye Blind

“Bittersweet Symphony” – The Verve

“Closing Time” – Semisonic

Have any 90s favorites you want to share with us? We’d love to hear!

Give it a listen, you won’t regret it!

“Reflektor” – Arcade Fire

“Falling” – HAIM

“One for the Road” – Arctic Monkeys

“Pompeii” – Bastille

“Applause” – Lady Gaga

MusicBest of the Fest: LuLu*s at First City Festival

7

I have had a pretty great festival season, and First City Festival was the perfect way to end it! It was the festival’s first year, but they totally pulled it off. The food was fabulous (awesome food trucks galore), the bands were amazing, and there was even a carnival! It took place at Monterey’s County Fair Grounds and Event Center, where the Monterey Pop Festival took place in 1967, which was a super fun fact to me being obsessed with 60s and 70s culture.

Purity Ring, Toro y Moi, and Capital Cities were up there in my favorites along with Dr. Dog, Washed Out, and Delta Spirit. But in the end, pretty much every band I saw this weekend was amazing! In the photo above, you can see us LuLu*s girls goofing around at the festival. Check out more of my fav bands, festival looks, and instagram snaps below!

Here you can see a collection of our instagrams from our personal accounts and from the LuLu*s account. Clockwise from top left: the Ferris wheel; a cutie we spotted in a striped dress; Kerrie, Brit, and Allison with Chaz Bundick of Toro y Moi*; Avery Tare; our favorite drink at the festival– strawberry lemonade;  all the girls at Dr. Dog!; Kerrie taking a picture with Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog*; another festival cutie; and finally, the center photo is the crowd at Passion Pit!

CelebrityStyle File: 2013 MTV Video Music Awards!

If you missed the MTV Video Music Awards this year, you’re sure to have been filled in on all the exciting moments. Miley was shocking, *NSYNC was dreamy, and the fashion was absolutely fabulous! Below are the lovely ladies (and a couple of gents) that made our Best Dressed list for the night!

statementsirens

Statement Sirens: Rita Ora turned the red carpet sky blue with the dramatic train on her Alexandre Vauthier Couture dress, while Selena Gomez commanded the crowd in a sexy studded Atelier Versace!

ciara

Ciara was simply stunning on the red carpet! Her delicately detailed Givenchy gown was flawless, and she was quite the show-stopper!

mtvmavens

MTV Mavens: We were totally taken by the two leading ladies of MTV’s Teen Wolf. Crystal Reed wore a brilliant red Zac Posen number, while Holland Roden wore an ivory pant/dress hybrid that was flirty & fun!

daftpunk

Dapper Punks: We tend to focus on the ladies for our style recaps, but come on, how could we NOT mention the most dashing duo of the night? Daft Punk made us swoon in their suit & tie combos, with shoes that had more sparkle than their signature helmets!

backtobasics

Back to Basics: We couldn’t help but be completely smitten with these babes, who chose to keep it classic & classy! Naya Rivera was a total knockout in her floor-length Paco Rabanne, and Allison Williams (a repeat favorite of ours) was très chic in Valentino!

taylor

Taylor, Taylor, Taylor!

She was our hands-down favorite in Hervé Léger By Max Azria. The  midnight blue gown fit her like a glove, and the bodice was to-die-for. Taylor totally encompassed Old-Hollywood glamour! We are still buzzing about this dress (and her blatant diss to ex Harry Styles!), and want to congratulate her on her VMA win!

What fashion found you “oohing” & “aahing” at the VMA’s?
