This past weekend we got to set up shop at the W Hotel during Fashion Week in NYC, partnering up with Simply Stylist for an event that truly linked industry experts to consumers! With panels of fashion icons and celebrity editors, as well as blogger style competitions, this was one style-packed afternoon!
Panels with industry leaders and style icons.
The lovely group of panelists below was comprised of bloggers, stylists and editors! From left to right we have Lindsey of Saucy Glossie, Celebrity Stylist Joey TierneyMarie Claire Editor Abby Gardner, Style Expert Lindsay Albanese, E! News host Catt Sadler and Simply Stylist founder Sarah Pollack-Boyd! So many talented women!
We were sure to bring fall’s hottest trends in clothing and accessories, and no LuLu*s event is ever complete without our infamous spinning wheel!
Once the shopping event started, attendees were scooping up all the fabulous pieces and having a blast perusing the collection with friends!
Some star bloggers were brought in for a style-off competition! Asked to choose from brands at the event, they created looks with their favorite finds! Here are all the pretty bloggers lined up and everyone is wearing something from LuLu*s!  From left to right there is Erica of Fashion Chalet, Lauren of Lauren Messiah, Grasie of Style Me Grasie and Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior! Vote for your favorite here!

Overall, it was a ton of fun I can’t wait to partner up with Simply Stylist again, and hopefully we will see you at the next event!

On Friday, February 10th, we were lucky enough to throw our own Fashion Week party in NYC! We called on all of our favorite bloggers, whether they lived in New York or were visiting for fashion week, to join us at Openhouse Gallery for a night of fashion and fun. Decorated to look like Central Park in Spring, Openhouse Gallery was the perfect venue to host our Fashion Week kickoff party! Upon entering, guests were given a Style Map that would lead them to their style destination, where they could then browse from tons of cute LuLu*s pieces to find the perfect item to take home…on us!
Below we have some pics of our lovely attendees, all looking fashionable and ready to party!
Love the brights and polka dots!
Super cute trio of lovelies!

Jewelry Designer Shayla Cox Goes Guerilla Glamorous!

Fashion | 31 March 2011

For New York Fashion Week, there are simply so many things to see! Fashion rules the roads, sidewalks and stores showing up in all shapes and forms.

This year jewelry designer Shayla Cox and stylist Pamela Shepard decided to team up to create a guerilla installation on the streets of New York. Using fashions from none other than Lulus.com to create a neutral-toned backdrop for Cox’s bold ceramic pieces, this dynamic duo was able to attract the attention of GQ Magazine in Gordon Steiner’s “The Wandering Eye: New York Fashion Week.”
What is a guerilla installation, you ask? Well, the purpose of guerilla art (also called street art) is to create what is usually a temporary work in a non-traditional space. Instead of the runway or a store window, these fine ladies decided to take to the streets where passersby could experience the unusual in an everyday location. Check out the video below!

“. . . Shayla Cox, is based in Brooklyn, NY. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and has worked as a visual stylist for over 7 years. . . Her design theory fuses ancient artisanal elements with a modern sensibility. Ceramic jewelry was the perfect fit. For the past year she has thrown herself into the creative process working on her debut collection, experimenting and working mercilessly at her passion.”

NYC Fashion Week Update: Rodarte's Romantic Portrayal of the American Grasslands

Fashion | 16 February 2011

One of the most anticipated shows this season was Rodarte. Partially because of the Mulleavy sisters’ success at pulling the heartstrings of the rich and famous, as well as the seasoned fashion experts they’ve created quite a cult following. Yesterday was no exception as you could almost feel the fashion world take a deep breath just to calm down before their show began.

Luckily for the Mulleavy sisters, and for our anxiety issues, the women behind the label have once again hit gold. And quite literally this time.

The models were brushed in gold with shining golden locks walking down and around a runway dressed in gowns with printed golden wheat stocks. Sky blue was infused into the collection as well as a brilliant sunset red to complete a range of prairie tones.

And now, with no further ado, here is the golden hour of Rodarte for Fall 2011:

Did you see these?
