FashionNYFW SS2015: Top 5 Runway Shows

NYFW SS2015

It’s that time again – Fashion Week! This week we take on our top 5 favorite shows from NYFW. Check them out below!

MONIQUE LLL

Monique Lhuillier
Monique, normally known for her dresses, delved into the world of separates for spring 2015, and did she blow us away! According to Style.com writer Emily Farra, her inspiration stemmed from a trip to the Bahamas. “When the sun rose over the ocean, the sky turned beautiful shades of blush and lavender, and there was this reflective quality to the water,” she explained. “I wanted to instill that sparkle in every piece.” This collection is dripping with that island sparkle in a way that is totally captivating and unique. Though she did finish the show with her normal foray of evening gowns, it was her separates the struck our heart-strings most, making this our favorite collection of NYFW!

Naeem Khan

Naeem Khan
Silk beaded track suit? Check. Gorgeous lace gown with sheer detail? Check. Floral ballgowns you would die over? Check. Nareem Khan’s collection is made for the red-carpet starlets to wear, and we can’t wait to see them wear it (imagine Blake Lively in that nude sparkle jumpsuit. Right?). We loved his take on the sportswear trend with his beaded sweaters and silk track pants. It was a beautiful synthesis of the fast-growing trend and his normal evening wear looks.

Cynthia Rowley

Cynthia Rowley
Cynthia Rowley’s new collections is, in her own words, “about making fitness pretty instead of making pretty sporty.” And it did just that. Blow up mod prints on ’60s trapeze dresses were the real winners for us, and the pastel wave fabric came in a close second. What pulled everything together was the high-heeled gladiator mules Rowley paired with the collection. We want. Now.

Oscar De La Renta

Oscar de la Renta
Be prepared to see the red carpets littered with looks from Oscar’s spring 2015 collection. Every piece reminded us of the feeling of a perfect spring picnic, transformed into evening wear. Fiercely feminine silhouettes trounced down the runway – with gingham prints in pink, baby blue, and black transitioning into full force florals. Our favorites were the midriff matching set looks, especially the gold sequin bandeau/ball skirt set with the ostrich feather embroidery.

Zac Posen

Zac Posen
Zac Posen’s vision for this spring is black and white, and red all over. The pure beauty of Posen’s collection is in the details, each piece was tailored to perfection. Though simple, you can tell this collection was well thought out, every curve, contour and boning. Bravo, Mr. Posen, for bringing us a minimal and simple way to feel sexier this spring.

BeautyNYFW SS14: Our Favorite Beauty Trends

Header

It’s no secret that we love fashion week! We had such a great time keeping up on the spring ’14 shows and talking NYFW around the LuLu*s HQ. Catching the  hair and makeup details that each designer pairs with their collection is one of our favorite parts of fashion week!  NYFW Spring ’14 was full of  fresh beauty trends! With bright pouts, smooth and sleek hair, gorgeous updos and more, this upcoming spring will have something for everyone. We have rounded up our favorite runway beauty looks! Browse below and let us know what you think!

KateSpade

Kate Spade was all about femininity. Bright skin and a pale lip evoked a 60′s Bardot feeling, while linear manicure’s and perfectly tousled top knots felt decidedly modern. This look has an easy sophistication that is just timeless.

PrabalGurung

Prabal Gurung went for robotic uniformity that avoided the mundane with a striking pallette of lip colors.  Hair was kept sleek with a severe side part, lots of product and following the models head shape. Skin was perfected to be flawless, almost poreless, with a super-bright lip in one of  three custom-blended shades. Give us a pop-lip and we are in!

ZacPosen

Zac Posen kept it romantic with delicate and simple makeup in a pale pallette. Updos and pretty silk flowers may not feel right for day to day but they evoke a classic femininity that we can definitely appreciate.

BadgleyMischka

Badgley Mischka opted for a wash of blue across the eyes and understated lips that when paired with vintage inspired upswept hair felt fresh and very spring. We love the bright color up to the brow. The bold splash of bright in a simple face is modern and fun! A look we will definitely try for the next spring.

RebeccaMinkoff

Rebecca Minkoff went in a direction that felt almost “boho-noir”. With a bronze flush across the cheeks, lined eyes, and  fishtail milkmaid braids, this look crossed genres yet still felt pulled together and modern. We can easily see a LuLu*s girl brekaing out some fun fishtail braids and going with an easy bronzed look for next spring!
