Carey Mulligan for Flaunt Magazine

Fashion | 14 May 2013

Carey Mulligan is on a mission for Flaunt Magazine. Well, actually, she’s AT a mission, shot by Stevie and Mada, and styled beautifully by Elizabeth Stewart. The blunt bob, the colors, the dresses… so gorgeous! As if I needed another reason to love this girl…

High Contrast in Fashion Magazine's May Issue

Art, Fashion | 25 April 2013

by

If you’re a devoted LuLu*s follower, you’ve probably noticed that we’re more than just a little bit obsessed with black and white at the moment… and it appears we are not alone. We’ve found a kindred spirit in Canada’s Fashion Magazine, as this eye-catching editorial spread can attest. Striking stripes of black and white mingle with bold pops of red for an absolutely mod-velous ode to our chromatic crush, shot by photographer Chris Nicholls. Add model Samantha Rayner’s bold, bowl-meets-bob cut by Greg Wencel, and we simply cannot look away. So take in the sights of this visually stunning spread, and once you’re through, why not indulge yourself in a little something striped?

Elizabeth Olsen for Bullett Magazine

Celebrity | 19 March 2013

In a pale pink wig, rocking delectable designer confections (that Balmain dress! *swoon*), among a paler than pastel backdrop, indie darling Elizabeth Olsen is straight out of a dream world. As if I didn’t already adore her enough, the interview that accompanies this ethereal photo shoot is chock full of little gems like this: “If I were an older man and I saw a girl my age, who maybe didn’t know herself that well, I would find her so unappealing… But when I see a woman in her 40s and up, I think, God, you know a lot. One day, I’ll get to be desired like you.

Deep Sea Gallery by Andreas Franke

Art | 29 January 2013

by

If you’d like to see Austrian photographer Andreas Franke‘s latest exhibit, you’re going to need to invest in some new equipment, because the Stavronikita Project: The Life Above Refined Below, is quite far below, indeed. Images of Rococo decadence are set amongst the decaying wreckage of the SS Stavronikita, and the only place you can see it is 80 ft below the surface of the ocean, off the coast of Barbados, aboard the shipwreck itself. As you might imagine, the gallery is set up with a little help from plexiglass, silicone, a steel frame, and super strong magnets. So, scuba fans, grab your gear, because you can still catch it through April 2013!

Back to our new series to keep your seasonal blahs to a minimum, we have this weeks Cure for the Winter Blues! Check out the beautiful Barbara Fialho in Elle Mexico‘s January 2013 issue! The colors are juicy and bright and the whole thing reminds me of a summer vacation in Spain! This shoot gave me a few moments of summer bliss, then I walked outside and had to de-ice my windshield.  Ah well, ’til next time! Keep fighting those winter blues! xx
