CelebrityRihanna Debuts Her River Island Campaign

If you happen to notice Rihanna walking around with another feather in her cap, it’s because she added one for “fashion designer”, thanks to her much-anticipated collection for River Island, which debuted last week at London Fashion Week. Nineties influences prevailed, with throwback pieces like an overalls-inspired top, skirts with attached shirts tied around the waist, crop tops, and a crazy pair of “double-top jeans” that you have to see to believe. Take a peek at some of RiRi’s creations in her new campaign below!

CelebrityStyle File: The 2013 Grammy’s!

The 2013 Grammy’s had some great moments; LL hosted, JT is officially back (and looking better than ever, I might add), and Prince showed up with an entirely diamond-encrusted cane.
And among all the Grammy Award winners and show-stopping performances, there were some fabulous fashion finds.
Here are some of our stand-outs from the night, including some risk-takers and rule-breakers!

Red Done Right: Rihanna and Natasha Bedingfield put the red carpet to shame in crimson, floor-length gowns, completing their look with subtle make-up, and loose waves.

Babes in Black: Whether dressed up or barely dressed at all, these two divas always look fab. Beyonce kept it cool & trendy in a color block suit, meanwhile, J. Lo left little to the imagination in Anthony Vaccarello.

Southern Show-Stopper: Along with an amazing performance, Carrie Underwood simply slayed in Roberto Cavalli! We couldn’t take our eyes off the intricate bodice and Carrie’s sultry look.

Pretty in Prints: The always adorable Adele ditched the dark and went for a bold patterned dress, and Alexa Chung was the picture of perfection in Valentino.

Brilliant Bodices: Kelly Rowland looked sexy in strategic cut-outs, and Allison Williams hung up her preppy ‘Girls’ digs for a beautiful beaded gown.

And the Winner Is…: Taylor Swift looked almost reminiscent of a Grecian goddess in a mythical J. Mendel gown that was simply unmatched. Taylor has looked nothing shy of phenomenal as of late, and we can’t wait to see what she shows up in next!

Alright, fashionistas, who do you think was a red carpet cutie, and who hit the wrong note?

Shorts are a major wardrobe staple this time of year and I think it’s time we all trade in our usual pair for a printed pair this season! The up-and-coming printed shorts trend is very versatile and you can style yours with patterned tees, crisp button-ups or colorful chiffon tops. Some major celebs have been out and about in their super cute printed shorts, and they’ve inspired us to put together some amazing LuLu*s outfits!

FashionTrend to Try: Mixed Prints

If you’re ready to mix things up this summer, why not try mixing your prints? Stars like Kristen Stewart rock this bold look with a punch of colors. Here she is (pictured left) in a Proenza Schouler Spring 2010 ensemble.

I’m very much a matchy matchy gal and was a little wary of trying out the trend myself. However, runway looks, celebrity fashions and recent street styles have really inspired me to give it a try.

Some general tips:
*Pair a large bold print with a smaller, subtle print.
*Mix up the textures of fabric.
*Stay within the same general, color palette.
*Also, a solid color belt can break up the look and keep it from overwhelming the eyes.

Pictured above, actress Leighton Meester mixes her preppy prints as Blair on the set of Gossip Girl. I love the color palette here, but I could do without the neck tie. Rachel Bilson and Rihanna stick with neutral blacks, greys and whites. My favorite is Rachel Bilson’s look, hands down.

Combining stripes and florals is also quite common. Our popular Mix Master Dress in Orange (pictured left) already does it for you! I love how the orange stripes really tie in with the bright orange flowers. Lulu*s stylist, Cara, took a fashion forward step by pairing the new Day at the Circus Top with the bright Pretty as a Poppy Skirt (pictured right). The look is rather striking, but it works!

So, what do you think? Are you inspired to mix up those prints? :)
