Trend Alert: Metal Plates

Fashion | 21 February 2013

by

Step up to the “plates” and get in on this season’s hot new take on metallics. Studs have had their time in the limelight, but now metal is having a new moment, and it’s sleeker than ever. Hammered, shiny, or even old school jelly (seriously!), this embellishment is set to become a sandal staple, so stock up before everyone else catches on!

(1. Bamboo Wonderful 12, 2. Chinese Laundry Now or Never, 3. Jelly 1, 4. Steve Madden Cufff (SOLD OUT), 5. Yoki Eva 03)

For months I’ve watched the stacks of my very favorite shoes sell out, come back, then sell out, then come back in stock AGAIN… and I must say, the proof is in the pudding: fringe-y feet are here to stay! Not a day goes by without several pairs of fringe booties/sandals/wedges/heels struttin’ by on the lovely LuLu*s ladies here. But really, can you blame us?

NEW LOOKBOOK: Free Spirit!

Fashion | 10 May 2010

It’s time for a new lookbook!

Our Free Spirit lookbook was inspired by the Californian lifestyle of a fashionably chic chick.

This girl zooms about town on a moped and has picnics with her musical boyfriend!

A little bit fantasy and a little bit reality, this lookbook was put together for those days when you want to be girly but keep it real at the same time.

This is a relaxed style for a fabulous girl… have fun and keep updated for more….!

Guest Blogger MELISSA Reports From COACHELLA!!!

<!–Hello LuLu Lovers!

This year, the fashion at Coachella was all over the map, as always. You see, desert chic can go oh so many ways.

Right off the bat, I noticed that there was a heavy 60′s/70′s vintage influence. Lots of psychedelic prints and muted colors, vintage denim shorts and white linen shirts tied around the waist.  If I could have piled all the leather strappy sandals together I think we could have reached the moon.

As for accessories, vintage metals, long dangly earrings, LOTS of feathers, and of course the infamous head band — although that trend is phasing out compared to years past!

As for the festival … Saturday morning, I woke up and said to myself, “Are we really going back again?” Friday was cool but just so overwhelming. I think it took me 3 hours just to get used to being around 60,000 people!

Friday’s highlight was, surprisingly, Jay-Z (even Beyonce stopped by for a duet), but I also caught Yeasayer (who had one of my favorite albums this year), Them Crooked Ventures, Grizzly Bear, LCD Soudsystem, Imogen Heap, Vampire Weekend and Fever Ray.

Luckily, Saturday was much more enjoyable than Friday, due to the better line-up, in my opinion. We first made a stop at the Anthem Magazine party for some amazing views, good music and a delicious lunch. Even scored some new flip flops and bathing suits from DC!

Next it was off to day 2 of the festival. Muse was today’s big hit, but I was equally excited to catch the interweb sensation Die Antwoord as well as Z-trip, Gossip, Hot Chip and Major Lazer. By the end of the night, my feet were getting ready to detach themselves and head on home without me … but fashion is painful, right? (Especially when you have a new pair of Tory Burch sandals that you didn’t break in yet.)

Day 3, we took a much-needed break laying by the pool before heading back to the fields. On today’s list was Spoon, Florence and the Machine, Glitch Mob, Phoenix, Miike Snow and Gorillaz.

Now it’s back to reality, but looking back, it was quite an amazing 3 days of celebrating music! You kind of need a 3-day vacation afterward to just decompress from it all!

Till again!
