If eyes are the window to the soul, make them smolder with our navy blue smokey eye tutorial! It’s our favorite sultry look for spring, and navy blue is a shadow that complements any eye color. It’s the perfect makeup to make your eyes pop for prom! Follow the steps below to get this lovely look for yourself!

NavyBlueEye
1. Sweep an ivory colored eyeshadow across the bottom half of the upper eye lid to create the base.
2. Using an angle brush, lightly line the upper lash line with black eyeshadow.
3. With the same brush, smudge the black line you just created in step 2 with a bright cobalt blue eyeshadow. Bring the line down and around to the lower lash line.
4. Concentrating on the outer corner of the top lid, lightly apply charcoal grey eyeshadow to begin the smokey eye.
5. Dab a small amount of black eyeshadow just in the outside corner and up to the crease.
6. Going back to the blue eyeshadow from step 3, smudge the blue to blend against the dark smokey base.  The bright blue mixed with the charcoal and black blend to be a nice navy smokey look.
7. Add a hint of champagne shimmery eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eye to create a pop.
8. Finish the smokey eye with a fine line of cream black eyeliner and a few coats of mascara!

BeautyCurrent Faves: Makeup Must-Haves

Hey ladies! Today was a wonderful day here at LuLu*s! When I came in there was a box sitting on my desk, and lo and behold it was a Sephora order I placed recently! Opening the box, I became more and more excited even though I was replacing some of my favorite products and I knew exactly what was in the box. It so nice to have new products to use on our lovely models. I though this would be the perfect opportunity to tell you about some of my favorite products! Here are three things that I simply cannot function without here in our photoroom!

smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer: This is my favorite lid primer I have used. It creates a perfect base for any shadows and allows you to build up color with a decrease in eyeshadow fallout onto the face. It has a matte finish but is not drying! In fact, according to the smashbox website, the primer contains, “Phytomoist™, a plant-based hyaluronic acid for ultimate moisturization plus skin perfecting amino acids.” This product is also great to wear alone since it evens out and perfects skin tone. Being under bright lights for hours, this is essential for our models because it keeps their makeup from creasing and wearing off. A must-have for any makeup enthusiast.

smashbox Eyelights in SmokeBox: This is a super versatile palette that allows you to go from a natural finish to a super smokey eye! I use the light beige shadow as a highlight under the brow bone and as an easy choice for a simple yet glamorous vanilla shade. The medium taupey-grey  shade is the perfect shadow for a natural smokey eye. I sweep this shade across the crease and blend it up and out into a “v” shape. Then adding the third shadow, a rich carbon black with silvery sparkles, in the outer corner of the eye. The trick to any smokey eye is blending. Using a compact fluffy brush to blend any harsh lines will keep your look polished. The great thing about this palette is that you can use these shadows on their own or in other color combinations since they are so basic and so pigmented!

Nars Lipstick in Funny Face: This is the best blue-based pink I have found! I love the playful punch that the bright fuscia brings to the photos. While it may be too extreme for some people, on the right skin tone and in the right lighting this is an awesome choice. This is an very moisturizing lipstick and it has sort of a floral/fruity smell.

Check out some of the looks below using these fine products!
