DIY: At Home Spa Treatments Part 2

Summer is really the best time of year but the harsh weather and summer activities can really do some damage to our skin and hair. After a fun-filled summer, these spa treatments are the best way to bounce back from sun damage and dry skin. These are so easy and fun that you can do them at home or even plan a spa day with friends!

1. Chlorine damaged hair is the worst but there are ways to correct the damage done from hours in the pool. All you’ll need is 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and ¼ cup of peeled cucumber. Muddle (fancy word for squish) all the ingredients together in a bowl until it forms a nice paste. Slather it all over your hair and leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse. Your hair will be soft, shiny, and good as new!
2. Makeup remover pads/cotton face masks are great items to have on hand and you can get them from almost any drug store. Soak these in a glass of cooled green tea and put onto your face to relieve sunburn and give yourself a cooling facial. The green tea will help to reduce inflammation, redness and the effects of UV radiation exposure. Green tea’s powerful antioxidants will repair that sunburn in no time.
3. Blueberries are the best summer snack but they also provide beauty benefits. Put the blueberries, honey and olive oil into a blender until they reach a creamy consistency. Apply all over the face for a fresh summer glow and a dose of antioxidants.
4. Sandals can be harsh on feet, and if you’re rocking a heeled sandal, I feel your pain even more. For a quick pick-me-up, try throwing some Epsom salt and a few drops of your favorite essential oil in a warm bath to soak those tired summer feet.

Spa treatments are a must for achieving that healthy summer glow, but heading to the spa can be so expensive! Before you throw on your fav pair of shorts or a cute summer dress, try these at home spa treatments with ingredients you can find in your own kitchen!

Getting summer-ready skin couldn’t get any easier than this and all it takes is two ingredients (in equal parts) per treatment to help get your skin feeling its best.

1. Rosewater and coconut milk make the most relaxing and soothing bath. The therapeutic scent of the rosewater is so relaxing and the creamy coconut milk will make your skin super soft and silky. Throw a quarter cup of rosewater into your bath with a quarter cup of coconut milk and soak the stress away.

2. Honey and olive oil are a great mix for a skin moisturizer. The smooth mixture of honey and olive oil make a great moisturizing mask for your skin. Mix these two ingredients in equal parts and a keep the leftovers in a small mason jar in your shower for a quick go-to when your skin is feeling dull or dry.

3. Did you know that brown sugar is filled with vitamin B6 (great for hair and skin) and honey has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties? This facial/body scrub will gently exfoliate while cleaning out some of skin’s impurities along the way. Scrub in a circular motion for about 30 seconds and rinse in warm water.

 4. Lip treatments are often overlooked but a little lip balm just isn’t enough sometimes. Using safe un-petroleum jelly and raw sugar make a great little scrub for your lips when the weather dries them out. Rub a little on your lips and rinse with a warm washcloth for a smooth lip that’s ready for a gorgeous gloss.

 5. This mixture of lemon juice and egg yolk  is great for an anti-redness facial and for spot treating pesky blemishes. Use this treatment about once a week or as needed to give your face a cool, fresh feel and take away redness from blemishes or sun exposure.
