Behind the Scenes: LuLu*s Spring 2011 Gypsy Caravan Lookbook

Fashion | 21 February 2011

Last week, we launched our spring 2011 lookbook, Gypsy Caravan, and I thought it was about time to give you all a peek from the other side of the lens at one of our shoots.

Below is the behind the scenes video featuring Forget That You’re Young, the new single from The Raveonettes’ forthcoming Raven In the Grave.

In addition to the video, I also wanted to give you some photographic treats. On every shoot, I bring some of my own cameras to take pictures not only for my own personal benefit, but for you ladies as well. This time I brought my new Fuji-roid, the Instanx 210, and the pictures that came out were amazing — take a look!

This is a location that is very close to the LuLu*s warehouse! Isn’t Chico, California, beautiful?

Blushing Bright: Cacherel Does Blush Pink for Spring

So, perhaps you love pink like I do, but you’re looking for a more sophisticated take. You’re in luck, because in the coming season we are going to be seeing more and more Blush Pink. This toned down version of a soft girly pink tends to have just a touch of brown, for an earthy neutrality that pleases.

With rays of sunshine sending the runway into an orangey-glow, Cacherel brought the rose-colored hammer down with their spring 2011 collection.

Artistic Director, Cedric Charlier, has been revamping the house of Cacherel for over a year now, charging this sunny showcase with the theme of “Optimism”.

Thick retro sunglasses and orange-filtered light speak of radiant spring days where these unassumingly blushing pieces seem to pop up from the ground with a freshly thawed softness. Simple blouse and skirt sets make a nice transition from the comfort-food knits of winter, and strappy sandals open it up for the pleasantly changing season.

This shade of pink seems to plea for simplicity and elegance without ever seeming too plain.

What do you think; will blush be on your palette for spring?

Fashion Week Has BEGUN: Hot New Trends to Come!!!

Fashion | 10 September 2010

Drum roll………………..

Fashion week has officially begun and we’ll be reporting on our favorite of the hot new trends to come!

Here are two shows from the Spring 2011 Ready-To-Wear that I actually found quite interesting.

First of all I thoroughly enjoyed breezing through this sandy collection by Jen Kao

My favorite part were the macramé knee high sandal boots.

Overall, I felt as if I had taken a breath of fresh after going through this collection. Despite the fact that she kept it safe with going almost completely colorless I think there are some amazing pieces in this collection.

After the ocean breeze of Jen Kao I needed a little urban jungle color in my life. I looked through the Peter Som collection to get my fix of color.

Som proved that mix-matching patterns is still as hot as monotone colored dresses.

What do you think of these two collections?

Do you go for colorful or monochrome looks?

Did you see these?
