Some of our favorite leading ladies like Coco Chanel, Marie Antoinette, Audrey Hepburn, and Frida Kahlo (to name a few!) made the cut for this sensational photo shoot behind the lens of Signe Vilstrup. If you’re a devoted LuLu*s follower, you’ve probably noticed that we’re more than just a little bit obsessed with black and white at the moment… and it appears we are not alone. We’ve found a kindred spirit in Canada’s Fashion Magazine, as this eye-catching editorial spread can attest. Striking stripes of black and white mingle with bold pops of red for an absolutely mod-velous ode to our chromatic crush, shot by photographer Chris Nicholls. Add model Samantha Rayner’s bold, bowl-meets-bob cut by Greg Wencel, and we simply cannot look away. So take in the sights of this visually stunning spread, and once you’re through, why not indulge yourself in a little something striped?

David Bowie Is… The Retrospective at the V & A Museum

If you didn’t get to live it the first time around, now’s your chance to rock out like you’ve been there all along! The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has delved into the depths of the David Bowie archives to put on an epic exhibition that showcases the music/fashion/cultural icon’s rise to superstar-dom, and all of the amazing things he’s done and worn since he reached the cosmos.

Hundreds of bona fide Bowie treasures are on display, including “handwritten lyrics, original costumes, fashion, photography, film, music videos, set designs and instruments.” (StyleBistro) But, in a blatant show of favoritism: let’s focus on those clothes!

If you find yourself on that side of the pond (you lucky devil!), be sure to check out all the magic in person. The best part: visitors receive headsets that automatically play the song/documentary/sound/etc. that’s triggered by your location. So cool! You’ve got until August 11th, so why not make a trip out of it!

In the meantime, look who’s back in the saddle! You can watch David Bowie’s NEW music video, and/or pick up his first new album in years!

Looks We Love: Kick Off Your Heels!

I’ve pulled enough barefoot-on-the-dance-floor moments in my lifetime to truly appreciate a great pair of sparkling sandals. Those 6″ stilettos look great in a picture, but after about five minutes, my dogs are a-barkin’! So I say, away with the pain! Let’s follow in the flip-flop’d footsteps of starlets like Uma Thurman and Elizabeth Olsen, who prove that flat is fabulous!

As if I didn’t already adore her enough, the interview that accompanies this ethereal photo shoot is chock full of little gems like this: “If I were an older man and I saw a girl my age, who maybe didn’t know herself that well, I would find her so unappealing… But when I see a woman in her 40s and up, I think, God, you know a lot. One day, I’ll get to be desired like you.“

DIY: Rihanna’s Pearly Chanel Sunglasses

Shine bright like a diamond in these Rihanna-inspired sunnies, and save yourself the Chanel price tag with supplies you can score for under $10 at your local craft store.

All you need are a cute pair of circular sunglasses, a string of (faux) pearls, and a little jewelry glue (or cheat with a glue gun; we won’t tell!).

Helpful tip: when you trim your string of pearls to fit your frames, skip the knot and dab a dot of glue on the end instead. We’ve all seen what happens when pearls hit the floor….
