CelebrityElle February 2014: The Women in TV Issue

We were blown away when the February issue of Elle hit stands this month. We couldn’t believe that our favorite leading ladies of television were gracing the cover, all looking fabulous and fresh! Each cover is as lovely as the next, showcasing the beauty and bravery of each woman, and spotlighting their talent and leading roles on hit TV shows. Talk about girl power! Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project) looks sexy and strong, Allison Williams (Girls) is a total babe, Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) is sassy and sultry, and Zooey Deschanel (New Girl) is a doll. Be sure to check each of these wonder women in their starring roles!

CelebrityStyle File: The 2014 Golden Globes!

The 2014 Golden Globes were certainly a night to remember. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the extravagant affair (and had us laughing our tails off), Leo FINALLY won, and Jennifer Lawrence totally photo-bombed Taylor Swift and America fell in love with her yet again! We were particularly taken by the incredible looks that graced the carpet this year; the ladies and gents of Hollywood pulled out all the stops!

Lady in Red: Taylor Swift looked classic and demure in a gorgeous crimson Carolina Herrera gown. She completed her effortless look with a bold red lip & finger-wave up-do, and once again, we were swooning!

Gal Pals: Tina Fey & Amy Poehler not only stole the show as the fabulous hostesses, but they also stole the red carpet! Tina was stunning in a rose printed Carolina Herrera, and Amy was an hourglass hottie in a sleek black Stella McCartney!

Downton Dockery: Oscar de la Renta never looked better than last night on the beautiful Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey)! Her strapless dress was fabulously fit & flare, and was almost as sparkling as her smile!

Seein’ Red: The color of the evening was none other than perfect shades of cherry red, and these ladies wore it well! Lupita Nyong’o was ravishing in Ralph Lauren, Amy Adams was a vision in Valentino, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus nailed it in Narcisco Rodriguez.

Kiss Me Kate: Kate Beckinsale took our breath away in a sequin Zuhair Murad. The shape was to-die-for, the detail divine, and the England native simply glowed!

Darling Details: It was all about the little details for these starlets, and we definitely noticed. Rashida Jones wore a fabulous Fausto Puglisi with beaded palm trees, Kelly Osbourne gave us the bold shoulder in her black Escada (and that sleek hair!), and Elisabeth Moss looked dreamy in her J. Mendel, perfectly patterned from head-to-toe!

Ravishing Reese: Could Reese Witherspoon have looked any more flawless in her floor-length Calvin Klein?!  The blonde bombshell was radiant to say the least. The dress fit her like a glove, and the teal blue was the perfect color against a very red backdrop!

Haute Hermione: Dior was done right on Emma Watson last night! The ever-stylish actress (and keeper of our hearts) sashayed in what appeared to be a lovely coral gown, but one spin and the crowd “oohed and aahed” over the open-back and slim trousers that totally completed the look!

And the Winner Is… None other than the sultry siren Sofia Vergara!  From the moment we laid eyes on the Modern Family actress in her ebony Zac Posen, we knew no one could compare! With side-swept hair and the perfect turquoise blue necklace, we give this beauty an A+!

CelebrityStyle File: The 2013 Emmy’s!

The Emmy’s are always such a glamorous affair, where the best of the best in television come together to receive their fabulous gold statues and dress to the nines!  We loved watching Breaking Bad take home the Emmy for Best Drama Series (total no-brainer), and our girl, Claire Danes, was once again victorious for her lead role in Homeland! Awards aside, here are our winners for the absolute best-dressed of the star-studded evening!

Blushing Beauties:  The color of the evening was pale and perfect, and these three starlets wore it well! Ariel Winter (Modern Family), was all grown-up in a one-shoulder Lorena Sarbu, Rose Byrne (Damages) went separate but sweet in Calvin Klein Collection, and Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) slayed in a strapless J. Mendel!

White is the New Black: Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black) took our breath away in an open ivory Thakoon. It was simple, classic, and oh-so-chic!

Royal Babes: These two brunette bombshells were sheer perfection in royal blue! Allison Williams (Girls, always my fashion muse), wore a floor-length fit-and-flare Ralph Lauren, while Tina Fey (30 Rock) showed off her hourglass figure in Narciso Rodriguez!

Pretty Draper: This dress was simply too amazing for words! Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) looked like a star in her fun and flirty Delpozo, and was definitely a stand-out for Best Dressed!

Embellished Elegance: Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) was dressed to impress for her big wins in Romona Keveza, Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) was laced from head-to-toe in CH Carolina Herrera, and Leslie Mann (The Bling Ring) totally rocked a chevron J. Mendel!

And the Winner Is… The always-fabulous Claire Danes! We were speechless upon first glance at Miss Danes’ flawless Armani Privé gown. That plunging neckline, the delicate details, the soft shade of nude! She carried herself with such grace, it was hard to not take notice. This dress in itself deserves an Emmy!

NewsAlexa Chung’s 24 Hour Catwalk Series Premiere

So, did you hear that Alexa Chung has a new show? And this time it’s all about fashion?? Yes!!!! 24 Hour Catwalk premieres tonight (Tuesday, January 10th @ 10/9c), and let me just tell you why my DVR is set to record.

Yeah, it’s kind of another Project Runway (which just premiered an “All-Star” season), but trade Heidi for Alexa, and trade Michael Kors & Co for designer Cynthia Rowley, fashion editor Derek Blasberg (New York Times best-selling author, Editor at Large for US Harper’s Bazaar, and Senior Editor of V, and VMan) and publicist James LaForce, (a “highly-regarded media and communications consultant”). Alright, I’m on board.

Now, instead of a whole cast and a whole season, we get four new designers per episode (slashed to two after a “first cut” elimination challenge), who have 24 hours (a-ha!) to complete a full runway collection. The prize: $10,000. Not bad. Also, the designers are provided with a “talented and opinionated” sewing team to help them make it to the finish line. Cue the drama. Add in some mystery trunks, and we’ve got a healthy blend of everything I love to see in my reality TV queue.
Oh, sneak peek? Don’t mind if I do…

Afraid you’re going to miss it? Worry not! You can watch the first full episode here. And for future reference, watch Tuesdays at 10/9c on Lifetime. Now here’s hoping Alexa makes a ton of wardrobe changes…

CelebrityThe New Girl we can’t get enough of: Zooey Deschanel

Oh my goodness . . . can Zooey Deschanel do no wrong?
Of all the things I look forward to in life, new television programs don’t typically make the cut. It’s true that I recently stumbled upon the horribly wonderful reality show Love in the Wild and bring it up at work EVERY Thursday morning, but new television shows can all-too-often be such unfulfilling forms of entertainment that they often slip from their time slots without anyone (espcially me) noticing.
However, big screen starlet, Zooey Deschanel, paying me a visit on those dreary Tuesday nights sounds almost too good to be true! Hello New Girl!

The Gist: The quirky and “adorkable” Jess (Deschanel) finds new roommates after experiencing a traumatic and rather odd break-up. Each with their own distinct personalities, the three male roomies reluctantly take her in and help her get back in the game. Together, along with Jess’s professional model BF, form a happily dysfunctional (and hopefully hilarious) family. Check out the trailer below:

Fun Fact: Besides being the obvious star of New Girl, Zooey also wrote and recorded the show’s theme song!
New Girl premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20th at 9:00pm on FOX.
Anyone else looking forward to the New Girl?
